Tomorrow is my dad’s 70th birthday! Wow, had to do the math twice to make sure I got that one right, but yep, it sure is! Stampin’ Addicts had a great color challenge last week, of Pool Party, Pear Pizzaz, and Soft Suede. They were just perfect for Dad’s birthday card. I tried to include some of his favorite symbols into the card.I used my Stampin’ Write Marker on the birthday stamp from Delightful Dozen, so I could use just the part that says “Happy Birthday.” The rest of the stamp is cute, but it didn’t suit this card.
Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers, Delightful Dozen
Inks: Soft Suede
Papers: Pear Pizzaz, Soft Suede, Pool Party, In Color Pattern Paper Stack (Pear Pizzaz)
Happy birthday, Dad! Sorry we couldn’t be there to celebrate on your birthday, but I’m glad we celebrated while we were in town!

This past Thursday was Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish holiday celebrating the birthday of the trees. And look how perfect for this is this week’s Stampin’ Celebration Inspiration Challenge!
Trees, cupcakes, presents, gorgeous pinks and browns — everything is perfect to inspire a great tree-themed birthday card! So I made one! The Birthday Bliss stamp set that I used was one of the freebies that I got for Sale-a-Bration last year. SAB starts on Tuesday, with lots more freebies on the way! I can’t wait!
Stamps: Season of Friendship, Birthday Bliss
Ink: Blushing Bride, Early Espresso
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Other: Top Note Bigz Die, Wide Oval Punch, Blushing Bride Poly Ribbon, Big Shot
Huffington Post published a very interesting article this week about how Tu B’Shvat has become a Jewish Environmental holiday. It certainly keeps the holiday just as relevant today as in the Biblical world.

It’s a big birthday for my husband this year — I won’t tell you which one, though. But I sure was glad to see this week’s Curtain Call Color Challenge. Perfect colors for a strong, masculine birthday card!
My husband is strong and dependable, just like the mighty oak, so I chose this image from Lovely as a Tree. I really liked the way the image looks stamped on the Crumb Cake paper. I added the white faux stitching with my gel pen to meet the Whisper White requirement of the color challenge. I think it adds a nice touch.
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Texture Stampin’ Around Wheel
Ink: Always Artichoke, Early Espresso
Paper: Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke, Early Espresso
Other: Gold Brads, White gel pen
Happy birthday, honey! And best wishes for many more!

With all of the craziness of moving across the country, getting settled in, and starting school, I did not get my dad’s birthday card made and mailed on time. (Sorry Dad! It’s on its way!) My dad has always appreciated tree themed items, so I decided to use the tree from Season of Friendship and the sketch from over at Stampin’ 411. I didn’t post in time to make it on Mr. Linky, unfortunately. Here’s the sketch:
I’ve made a lot of fall cards with this set, but my Dad’s birthday is in August so I wanted to make a nice summery green card. I used my Color Wheel from Stampin’ Up to pick out what shades of green went best together. I decided on Garden Green and Certainly Celery. I love the way it came out!
Stamps: Season of Friendship, Birthday Wish
Ink: Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede
Paper: Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Accessories: Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon
