Freshly Made Sketches has a fun new sketch this week, with a great big space for a fun image!

My nephew is turning three next month, and he is super into dinosaurs! I wanted to make him a card with the soon-to-be retiring Dinoroar stamp set, but I didn’t want to get the set just for one card (not like I haven’t done that before…). Anyway, my friend and fellow demonstrator Cindy Elam came to the rescue! She stamped some of the images for me, and I was able to create this great dino card based on one by Rita Wright. If you are looking for a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator in or around El Cajon, I highly recommend Cindy!

Dinoroar by Yapha Mason

Stamps: Dino Roar
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Paper: Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Shimmery White, 2011-2013 In Colors Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The images are stamped on shimmery white cardstock. It is great for watercoloring with reinkers (like I did) and adds a fun sparkle to the card. The pterodactyl is cut out and popped up on the card. Thanks again, Cindy!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are celebrating today! Mother’s Day for me means time to create in my stamping room, in addition to spending time with family later today. I put together two very special challenges for you today. Dynamic Duos is celebrating their one year anniversary and CAS-ual Fridays is celebrating their 100th challenge and two year anniversary. I had a lot of fun combing these challenges!

For Dynamic Duos, I picked challenge #34, Melon Mambo and Island Indigo. (Well, actually Eve picked it.) and for CAS-ual Friday, I used the left hand column: polka dots, square card, and birthday. They really worked well together!

Henry Says by Yapha Mason

Stamps: Henry Says
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Melon Mambo, Island Indigo
Paper: Island Indigo, Whisper White, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack, In Color 2011-2013 Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack

The finished card is a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square, so it will fit into a regular envelope. This adorable stamp set does not appear in the new catalog, so if you want it, be sure to order it before May 31st.

I wanted to make a triple time stamping card with my after-school class, because I thought the girls would be pretty excited with trying a new technique. (They were.) I figured that Secret Garden would be a great set for this. (It was.) And I wanted to make my mom a Mother’s Day card with Daffodil Delight because she loves yellow. So I put them all together and this is what I came up with.

Secret Garden Triple Time Stamping by Yapha

Stamps: Secret Garden, Amazing Family
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Primrose Petals
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Primrose Petals, Whisper White
Other: Daffodil Delight 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon

Some of the girls in the class used “sister” or “friend” instead of mother, making this a very versatile card. I hope that you will come back tomorrow for the 5th annual Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Stamp Set blog hop!

As promised, here is the second card that my after-school class is making today. It fits just perfectly with the Mother’s Day theme over at The Paper Players. This could be for Mother’s Day (as shown below), or many other occasions. I gave the girls the option of using any of the stamps in the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, so they can customize it however they please. Just one of the reasons I love that stamp set!

Red Dress Mother's Day Card by Yapha

Ink: Riding Hood Red
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Regals Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack, First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper, Silver Glimmer Paper

Tomorrow is Tuesday, so that means a new ColourQ challenge! I hope that you will play along. I’ll have a scrapbook page for you with this week’s great colors.

I made a quick and easy card with this classic sketch from Seize the Birthday this week.

Sketch 16

I used one of the super cute stamps from Best of Birthdays to put this card together really quickly. I love these Best of sets, they have such great images! Stampin’ Up is releasing one a month. Click here to see the ones that have come out so far.

Stamps: Best of Birthdays
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pool Party, Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi
Paper: Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, Whisper White, Storytime Designer Series Paper
Other: Pool Party Seam Binding, Wild Wasabi Stitched 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch

Layered ribbon is such a fun look. I started doing it in My Digital Studio, and it has made it’s way into real life, too!

I really like this sketch from Fab Friday with the giant tag on it. I played around with some other ideas of what that shape could be, but in the end I came back to a tag.

Two of my friends had baby boys last week, so I figured I had better make at least one baby boy card! They are both teachers, so that alphabet spout does double duty on the card.

Whalecome Baby Boy by Yapha

Stamps: Oh Whale
Ink: Baja Breeze, So Saffron
Paper: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Whisper White, Patio Party Designer Series Paper, Subtle Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Happy Whale Clearlit, Bitty Banners Framelits, Soft Subtles Brads

Don’t forget that Baja Breeze is one of the colors that is retiring at the end of the month. And this cute Oh Whale set with the matching die are both in the Occasions mini catalog, which also ends at the end of this month. And I don’t see them anywhere in the new catalog, so if you like them, act soon!

The great thing about playing along with the Seize the Birthday challenge each week is that I always have a birthday card when I need one! Another fun sketch this week!

Eve has a few more friends turning 10 before the school year ends, and since the Memorable Moments stamp set was just perfect for this sketch, I made up another card to have ready.

CIMG1870

Stamps: Memorable Moments
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Labels Collection Framelits, Melon Mambo Dotted Scalloped Ribbon, Brights Buttons, Ice Cream Parlor Buttons (retired)

Just a reminder that the Stampin’ Up retiring lists will posted at midnight (Mountain Time) tomorrow. I will definitely be staying up to see them, and I will have all the links and other important information here for you on Wednesday.

I love when I can combine a fun sketch with a great color challenge, and that is exactly what I did with this week’s Friday Mashup and Dynamic Duos challenges.

When I saw the Friday Mashup sketch, I just knew I had to make a gatefold card. It’s been a while since I made one, and they are just so easy with the Simply Scored! And the Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue, made me think of a Monarch butterfly winging its way across the sky on its long migration.

CIMG1866

Stamps: Best of Butterflies, Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper
Other: Brights Brads, Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Bitty Banner Framelits, Simply Scored

Here is what the gatefold card looks like when it is open.

CIMG1865

Don’t forget, Bashful Blue is one of the 10 colors retiring at the end of next month. If you want any products you should order them as soon as possible. Not Quite Navy cardstock is already sold out!

I am so excited to have been picked as one of the Birthday Honors for last week’s Seize the Birthday sketch! It is week two of the same sketch, so it is the same sketch again, this time with a masculine bent.

I just got my awesome This & That Epic Day bundle, the new smash-book type casual scrapbooking journal and accessories from Stampin’ Up. I used the Designer Series Paper and the Washi Tape on this card.

CIMG1862

Stamps: I Dig You
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Gumball Green
Paper: Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, This and That Epic Day Designer Series Paper
Other: Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape, Neutrals Brads, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, 3″ Circle Bigz Die

This is a lot more distressed than my usual style, but I like how it turned out. I even used my fingernail to rough up the edges of the Crumb Cake circle.

One of the reasons I love my friends over at Stampin’ Addicts is how quickly everyone jumps in to put together something really cool. Case in point, this blog hop! Stampin’ Up announced the retiring colors on Thursday, I had an idea for the blog hop Thursday night, and here we are Sunday with some great projects to show you why you should stock up on these colors before they go. They are only available while supplies last! And don’t forget Stampin’ Up has free shipping through the end of the day on Monday April, 8th, so no time like the present! You may have just come from Tanya’s blog, where she featured Regal Rose, or you may be starting here. Either way, all of the blogs link in a circle, so you won’t miss a single color.

I am very excited to be representing Pretty in Pink in today’s blog hop. This has been my go to color for so many projects for Eve and other baby girls throughout the years. In addition to baby cards, I’ve used it for Valentines, Mother’s Day, birthday cards, and so much more. I have three cards to show you with it today. The first card is a birthday card from our dogs to Eve. (Yes, from the dogs, don’t your pets give cards?) It uses one of my favorite color combos — Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip. It’s just so classic! The punch art paw print is from Mary Fish.

Stamps: You’re Amazing
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Full Heart Punch, Small Oval Punch, Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, Chocolate Chip Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Pretty in Pink Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones

My second project is a Mother’s Day card. It uses a color combo recommend by the Color Coach. (Love that, have to make sure to get the new one when it is available!) Can you believe that all three of these colors are retiring? It is a little hard to see, but I used Pretty in Pink Ink on the Pretty in Pink  card stock before I die cut them with the framelits. It adds a bit more dimension to the flowers.

Ink: Pretty in Pink
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Secret Garden Framelets, Square Lattice Texture Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Border Punch

My final card is an homage to Pretty In Pink. It is one of the very first ink pads that I bought and I will never forget it!
