Thank You

Have you seen a wiper card before? I was lucky enough to get one in a Stampin’ Addicts swap last fall. I recreated itwith a summery theme, and I’ve been making it all weekend! The Simply Scored with the new Diagonal Plate makes it easy enough that we made it at the Fun Folds class yesterday, a Sale-a-Bration workshop today, and even with my after-school kids’ class tomorrow!

Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Ink:
Poppy Parade
Paper:
Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
Other: Simply Scored Board, Diagonal Plate, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die, Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Here’s a tutorial so you can make your own!

Supplies:
Two pieces of cardstock, 4 ¼” x 8 ½”
One piece of cardstock, 1 ½” x 3”
Simply Scored score tool
Simply Scored diagonal plate
Designer Series Paper, ink, and stamps to decorate

Score each of the 4 ¼” x 8 ½” sheets of cardstock at 1 ½” and 3″.

Score the 1 ½” x 3” piece diagonally at the 1 ½” using the ruler on the LEFT side.

Fold all pieces along the score marks.

Adhere the wiper piece to one of the larger pieces as shown below. Make sure that the top of the diagonal score is touching the top of the card.

Put glue on the outside scored section of both pieces and adhere the edges of the two larger pieces together and decorate as desired.

In my quest for easy to produce thank you notes, I came across some great examples on Pinterest. They both use the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the new Blossom punch. The first one is inspired by this card by Barb Mullikin.

Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Perfectly Penned
Ink: Poppy Parade, Soft Suede
Paper: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
Other: Blossom Punch, Dazzling Details, Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon

The second one is very similar. It is inspired by this card by Chris Smith.

Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Perfectly Penned
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: So Saffron, Very Vanilla, First Edition Designer Series Paper
Other: Blossom Punch, 3/4″ Circle punch, Dazzling Details, Basic Black Scallop Dotted Ribbon

Are you on Pinterest? It’s such a great source of ideas! I’d love it if you followed me.

Whoo-hoo! I found a new sketch challenge! And surprisingly it’s made by some of my friends over at ColourQ!  It’s called Retro Sketches, and it comes out every Saturday. I missed the first one, but I’m super excited to play along with the second one!

I am still on my Thank You card making kick. I was excited to see that the great “Thank You” from Perfectly Penned fits so nicely into Designer Frames Embossing Folder! This one is nice and flat for easy mailing. The “Get Well” from the same set would fit in there as well.

Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede
Paper: Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Series Paper
Other: Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Both the Everyday Enchantment Paper and the Designer Frames folders are items you can choose for free during Sale-a-Bration. The folder will still be available after the end of March, but this gorgeous paper will not! Be sure to stock up before it is gone!

Another nice clean sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week. Their sketches come out on Wednesdays, I just don’t usually have time to play along until the weekend. I guess that’s the plus side of having the dog wake me up at 5am — plenty of time for stamping!

I was inspired by the first card on their blog, the one by Linda Callahan. I changed the focal image, since the paper looks like typewriter keys to me. It would be easy to make this card for other occasions, simply by changing the sentiment on the paper.

Stamps: You’re My Type
Ink: Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Other: Artichoke 3/8″ Denim Jean Ribbon, Antique Brads

I haven’t used that ribbon before. I got some recently in a trade with my friend Debbi. It’s a really fun ribbon, though I think it is way more brown than green. It worked great on this card, though! I also have some in the Blue Denim, though I haven’t used it yet.

Another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week. Nice clean lines and a big space for an image.

I wanted to try a neat trick that I had seen on a few other cards, so I turned the sketch on its side! Did you know that the oval shaped Designer Frame embossing folder fits perfectly inside the second smallest label framelit? Well it does! And it looks awesome! Check it out! (Many thanks to the creative women who figured this one out!)

Stamps: Thank You Kindly
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, First Edition Designer Series Paper
Other: Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Labels Collection Framelits, Big Shot, Cherry Cobbler Striped Ribbon

Don’t forget that you can get these Designer Frames embossing folders for free this month, as one of your Sale-a-Bration choices! And thank you to Debbi for the fab ribbon.

Another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week! I love the squares and the clean lines.

I need a whole bunch of thank you notes for all the kindness that people are showing us as Steve is recovering from his back surgery. I decided to start with this sketch. Don’t be surprised at the number of thank yous that you will see showing up here over the next few weeks! They are all easily changed into cards for other occasions by simply changing the sentiment. Here’s what I came up with for this sketch:

Stamps: You’re My Type
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Real Red
Paper: Real Red, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other: 1″ Square Punch

I hope you had fun on the Stampin’ Addicts Party Blog Hop this weekend! If you missed it, you can still hop along, starting here.

Paula is back with some great sketch challenges over at Stampin’ Addicts! This one is from the week before last, sketch #118. It’s okay though, because there is no time limit so you can play along whenever you have a chance!

I needed to make a thank you card for my fabulous downline Samantha who bailed me out of a total dog-sitting nightmare while we were out of town over the holidays. This sketch was perfect. This also gives you a sneak peek at the gorgeous designer series paper that you can earn for free during Sale-a-Bration! (SAB starts on Tuesday, January 24th!)

Stamps: D is for Dog, Delightful Dozen
Ink: Soft Suede, Pool Party
Paper: Pool Party, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Poppy Parade, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
Other: Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, Full Heart Punch, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit

The Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper comes distressed on the edges, so I sponged some Soft Suede ink around the edges of the pieces that I cut to match.

Did you get all of your thank you notes written? I am happy to say that I finished mine before Winter Break ended! I needed cards that would be quick to make and easy to mail, so I adapted one of my favorite Winter Holiday cards into a thank you note. To keep it flat enough for mailing, I used Dazzling Details in the center of each snowflake instead of the Basic Rhinestones.

Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Ink: Marina Mist
Paper: Marina Mist, Whisper White
Other: Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Dazzling Details

Good news about Dazzling Details! It is still available even though the Holiday Mini catalog has ended! Even better news — there is a Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details available in the Occasions Mini Catalog!

One of my colleagues at work is having some pretty significant surgery over break, and I know a lot of people are pitching in to help her out. I figured in light of this that she might need some thank you notes. I asked her what her favorite colors were, and she told me jewel tones in blue, green, & purple. So I made her a pack of thank you notes based on that, four each of three designs.

Here’s a look at each one separately.

The Night of Navy Satin Ribbon is retired, but you might want to keep an eye on the Clearance Rack. Retired ribbon has been showing up often.

It’s funny, because when I first saw it, I really did not like the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper, but the more I use it, the more I love it! When I saw this gorgeous quilted card by Rita, I knew I wanted to make my own as well.
