Kids

This cute little 3×3 card is just perfect to tuck in a lunch box and let your child know you are thinking of her! I heat embossed the alphabet and used my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write marker to color in the HI. It’s even cuter in real life. Today is the last day to get this Recess stamp set, and anything else out of the Summer Mini catalog. Get what you want now, before you regret it.

Stamps: Recess
Ink: VersaMark, Melon Mambo
Paper: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Crumb Cake
Other: Black Embossing Powder, Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die, Big Shot

The Holiday Mini Catalog starts September 1st! Be sure to stop back for all the info on that!

When I saw this cute card made by Selene, I knew I had to try my own version. I just love this Recess stamp set — the images are just so cute and fun! But just like summer is ending, so is the summer mini catalog. August 31 is the last day to order from it.

Stamps: Recess
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, VersaMark
Paper: Crumb Cake, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper
Other: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter, Melon Mambo Embossing Powder

I wanted another touch of Melon Mambo, in addition to the girl’s shirt, so I embossed the sentiment with Melon Mambo embossing powder as well.

I had totally forgotten about the adorable school bus in the Every Little Bit stamp set until I saw this fantastic ensemble over at Inking Idaho. It inspired me to make my own creation with the bus. I liked it so much I had to make two cards — one regular size (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) and the other 3″ x 3″. Wouldn’t these be so fun to tuck in a lunch box or give to the bus driver on the first day of school? Especially for a new bus rider!

Stamps: Every Little Bit, Elementary Alphabet Builder Wheel, For Teacher Builder Wheel, School Colors Builder Wheel
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Basic Gray
Paper: Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White
Other: Poppy Parade Poly Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, Perfect Polka Dot Textured Impressions Folder, Big Shot

I still have a few spots left in my Ribbon Shares, so let me know if you are interested!

Such great summer time pool colors from ColourQ today! Take a look. Aren’t they fab?

Luckily, I had the perfect picture to scrap with them — one of my adorable nephew Leo hanging out in the pool with Eve. How cute are they? And the colors are perfect!

Like that wave like pattern on the Pool Party background? I used one of the stamps from the All Scallops digital stamp set, changed the color to Pool Party (like the background), then set the drop shadow to 75%. This gives it a subtle embossed look.

Don’t have My Digital Studio yet? Check out yesterday’s blog post for a special offer. And then come play with us at ColourQ!

Here’s another card I made when I was playing around with the 4th of July clean and simple challenges on Splitcoast Stampers. It was from the first sketch challenge of the day.

It’s really a fantastic clean & simple layout. I could totally see myself using it for so many cards. But for this one I went with the Recess stamp set again. It’s just so darn cute! (You only have until the end of August to get it.)

Stamps: Recess
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Pacific Point
Paper: Poppy Parade, Whisper White, Designers Series Paper Stacks (In Color & Bright)
Other: Clearlits Scallop Rectangle Die, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Die

Be sure to come back tomorrow for a great color challenge from ColourQ!

My adorable nephew Leo is one year old today! It seems like just a few weeks ago that my brother was texting me updates on his birth! In addition to the super cute lion card that I made for him back in April, I wanted to make him something else as well. When I saw these handy tips for making an ABC swatchbook on the My Digital Studio website, I knew that’s exactly what I wanted to make! The swatchbook is one of the newer photobook options in My Digital Studio. It is 13  3.25″ x 5.5″ cards, double sided, and held together with a post so that the pages can swing out. If you have seen the new Stampin’ Up color coach, it is similar in design. It also comes with a plastic pice covering the front and back. This is what the finished project looked like:

And here it is with a few of the pages open:

Since it is hard to see the actual pages from these photos, here are the first few for your enjoyment:

I want to give a big thank you to Stacey, my sister-in-law’s sister-in-law, for helping out with pictures! I couldn’t have done it without her!

Welcome to Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Stamp Set Blog Hop, where we are featuring some “must have” stamps that will not be available after June 30th. You may have just come here from Adriana’s Blog, where she featured the adorable Animal Stories, you may be moving backwards from Heidi’s blog featuring the fabulous Dream Gardens, or maybe you are starting here. In any case, the blogs all link in a circle, so you’ll get to see them all!

I am excited to be featuring the ultra adorable Bugs & Kisses. While this set is a must if you have small boys, I am going to show you a few other uses for this set as well. Just remember, it will no longer be available after June 30, 2011.

My first card is a traditional use of Bugs & Kisses. I love how the insects look in the filmstrip made by the Spiral Punch (which is also on the retiring list). I made this card a little more feminine by using the floral paper from the Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper (also on the retiring list).

Stamps: Bugs & Kisses
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Poppy Parade, So Saffron
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper
Other: Spiral Punch

For my second card, I decided to think outside the box a little. Which is ironic, because I ended up making a square card! I combined the ant stamp with the gingham paper from Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper to  make a great picnic invitation for people of all ages.

Stamps: Bugs & Kisses, Afterthoughts (hostess level 1)
Ink: Basic Black, Poppy Parade
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper
Other: Clear Scallop Square Bigz Die, Big Shot

My third card uses a fun technique called Sparkly Stained Glass. I will have a detailed tutorial on this easy but stunning technique in the next week or so. Sorry that the picture is a little blurry — sparkly things are hard to photograph well. This card also uses the soon to be retiring Fine Cosmo Stampin’ Glitter.

Stamps: Bugs & Kisses
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Bashful Blue
Paper: Bashful Blue, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack
Other: Window Sheet, Crystal Effects, Fine Cosmo Stampin’ Glitter, Subtles Brads

My final card uses the always fun Baby Wipe technique. I used this to create the multi-colored worms, so that they would match the gummy worms inside the treat cup. I’ll have a tutorial on this technique coming up in the next few weeks as well, in case you are not familiar with it. This card also uses the 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon which is ALL retiring!

Stamps: Bugs & Kisses
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Whisper White
Other: 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Large Tag Punch, Extra-Large Tag Punch, Sweet Treat Cup, Real Red 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

I hope you enjoyed these projects! Please stop back again soon for the tutorials! Your next stop is over at Running with Scissors, where Heidi will be featuring the beautiful Dream Gardens Stamp Set.

Eve had her birthday sleepover last weekend, and I figured instead of just giving the girls party favors, I would have them make them! We ended up making them Sunday morning after they woke up, which was great, because they woke up earlier than I had expected and it was a great way to fill an hour! First they made these jumbo paper clip book marks:

Stamps: Jayne’s Type Alphabet
Ink: Pacific Point
Paper: Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Other: 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Jumbo Paper Clip

Then they covered and personalized matching mini notebooks. This sample one is actually for my mom. I let the girls pick their choice of the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration. I also gave them a choice of which alphabet set they wanted to use.

Stamps: Lovely Letters
Ink: Daffodil Delight
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper
Other: 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Mini Notebook

They really enjoyed making these, and it was a fun way to end the sleepover.

Eve agreed to wait a month to have her birthday party, so that she could have a swimming sleepover party. I made this invitation during the Stampin’ Addicts 5th Saturday Stamp Jam, but unfortunately ran out of time to make enough to actually send to her friends. Sigh. The beauty of this one is that I can change the “You’re Invited” to “Thank You” and make them to use as her thank you notes!

Stamps: Sunny Fun, Family Phrases
Ink: Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Blush Blossom, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Brights Designer Series Paper Stack, Whisper White
Other: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon

I really like this Sunny Fun stamp set. It’s just too cute!

Oh my gosh, this Recess stamp set in the new Summer Mini Catalog is just too cute! As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to have it! The images are absolutely adorable! I made the card below for a swap over on Stampin’ Addicts.
