Rubber Stamping & Card Making with Yapha

It was dreary and overcast here this weekend, so I got a lot of quality stamping time in, when I could drag myself away from looking at the new catalog that is. I went back and played a few of the Stampin’ Addicts sketch challenges. They are great sketches, and you can play along at anytime. For this card I used Sketch Challenge #96.

I decided to use the Long Fellows level 2 hostess set for this one. The images are long (hence the name) and fit the sketch really well. I feel like I’m saying good-bye to a lot as both the school year and the Stampin’ Up year come to an end. I thought I’d put a lighthearted spin on it with this card. Here’s what I came up with:

As soon as I saw the Level 1 Hostess Set in the Summer Mini Catalog, and the “Sorry I was crabby” stamp, I needed to have it! It’s been sitting on the shelf for awhile, so I decided to break it out with some new colors. Like that scalloped rectangle? It’s the new clear Sizzlet. Super fun! Since the Watercolor crayons aren’t available yet in the new colors, I watercolored with the ink pads. (Click on the picture so you can see the expression on the crab’s face!)

I added the extra flecks to the Crumb Cake paper (the card stock formerly known as Kraft) with the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. I recommend spraying it on scratch paper first so that you get a feel for how it comes out. And definitely use the Color Catcher or something, it has a wide spray!

I was so excited when I saw this stamp set in the mini catalog! My in-laws are big golfers and I knew I just had to have this adorable golfer to make cards for them! This style of card is called a gate-fold, because, well, it opens up in the middle like a gate! This is one of the “fun folds” we’re going to be making at my fun folds class next Thursday in Ashby. Stampin’ Addicts has a new color challenge every Friday. This week’s colors were Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, and Baja Breeze. Tricky, tricky colors! I don’t really gravitate towards these two plums. While they are lovely, I never really think about them. That’s the great thing about color challenges, they help you step away from your usual choices. After mulling over these colors for a long time, I came up with this card. I think it came out super cute! These are fantastic colors together!

Here’s another Passover related card. Well, for me it is Passover related because of all of the frogs, and frogs always make me think of Passover. For you, a frog may just be a frog. This is from a sketch challenge on a new website I have been visiting called Stampin’ Addicts. Yes, that did say “Tangoed” up in Blue. I went and had a fun couple hours yesterday with my friend Beth who is also a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. She had the most amazing swap cards that were done in Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, and Chocolate Chip. I love, love, love Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point together! I wasn’t planning on using them for today’s Mojo Monday sketch. Nope. I was thinking about the sketch on the 100 mile drive home from my parents. I was going to use So Saffron, Riding Hood Red, and Basic Black with the new dog set, Man’s Best Friend. Well, let’s just say that things got a little frustating and that card did not end up fitting the sketch. It did come out cute, though. I’ll post it tomorrow.
