Remember those super cute holiday cards with the ribbon behind the negative space of the framelits? I have seen a few similar ones with hearts, so I decided to make one like that for the Fab Friday Color Challenge and the Paper Players Sketch Challenge.

Fab Fri Logos-007     pp129

These cards are easier to make than they look.  First, I cut the shape out of the Crumb Cake piece of card stock. Then I placed that on top of the Cherry Cobbler mat, and used a pencil to trace the heart. I removed the Crumb Cake piece, and covered the heart with Snail adhesive. Then I adhered my pieces of ribbon. Since you can see the outline of the heart through the Snail, it is very easy to place the ribbon.

Did you get a chance to visit the Stampin’ Addicts Sale-a-Bration Blog Hop? Sale-a-Bration starts Tuesday!

I’m not sure who Betsy is, but these blossoms are fabulous! Here’s another quick and easy card I made featuring most of this year’s new In Colors.

Stamps: Betsy’s Blossoms
Ink: Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit
Paper: Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Midnight Muse, Whisper White
Other: Circles #2 Die, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch

Have you had a chance to try out the new style of ink pads yet? They are AMAZING!!! Really. They will change the way you stamp. I can’t recommend them enough.

One of the really fun things about being a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator is swapping card fronts! It’s a great way to get new ideas and see samples made from stamps and products that you don’t have. I am currently hosting a couple different swaps over at Stampin’ Addicts, for the new Occasions Mini Catalog and the upcoming Sale-a-Bration Catalog as well. I had everything sent to my parents’ house, since I am out here for the week. Here’s a look at the pile of boxes that arrived. (The post-it notes are my organization system for which swap groups are in each box.)

My good friend and fellow demonstrator, Debbi, came over to help me sort them. We had a lot of fun looking through all of the amazing cards together! Because really, what else was there for two Jewish demonstrators to do on Christmas? You can see our sorting process on the table.

How can you see these fabulous swaps? If you are in Simi Valley or the Greater Los Angeles area, contact me to book your workshop for January through April, and I will bring them to you. You may see my version of some of these cards showing up on my blog over the next few months. Or head over to the Stampin Addicts’ Gallery, where hopefully people will be uploading them soon.

When we were planning our drive back to Los Angeles, and talking about taking I80 all the way west until we met up with I15 in Salt Lake City, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! Take a little detour to Riverton, Utah and see Stampin’ Up headquarters! Unfotunately, they were closed, since it was Saturday, but I did get my picture taken with the rock. What rock? Why this one of course:

And Eve had her picture taken with it too!

A big thank you to Steve for stopping by, being a good sport, and getting his picture taken too!

It was super fun to go see, even if we couldn’t go inside.

I made this card for  a swap over on  Stampin’ Addicts. I love this Sweet & Sour Designer Series Paper — one side of each piece is embossed! You can see it on the polka dot piece at the bottom. This is a really fun set, whether you use the flip-flops, the ice cream, or the kids in the pool.

Stamps: Sunny Fun
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Sweet & sour Designer Series Paper
Other: Pumpkin Pie Satin Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Brights Brads

I think these bright colors really go well with the flip-flops. Now if we could only get some warmer weather around here!

It must be Fall, because I pulled out the Season of Friendship stamp set! Not that you can tell by the weather here in Los Angeles, but a girl can dream of crisp Fall air and changing leaves, right? I knew it would be the perfect set for this week’s ColorLab Color Challenge.

By using textured card stock in the background and the top note die for the main image, this is a quick and easy card that looks like it took a lot longer!

Stamps: Season of Friendship
Ink: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Baja Breeze
Paper: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Baja Breeze (textured), Whisper White
Other: Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot, Sponge Dauber

I love this stamp set! It makes such great cards.

I have another double challenge card today. This one uses the colors from the Pals Paper Arts Celebrity Color Challenge and this week’s Clean & Simple sketch.

I pulled out Cheep Talk for this one. Haven’t used that set in a while! It needed a little something more, so I added one of the Basic Rhinestones for just a touch of bling.

Stamps: Cheep Talk
Ink: Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron
Paper: Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Whisper White, Brights Designer Series Paper Stack (Old Olive)
Other: Scallop Border Punch, Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Basic Rhinestone, Stamp-a-ma-jig

I like doing double challenges — they really stretch my mind!

My friend Holly (catrules over at Stampin’ Addicts) just started a brand new color challenge on her blog and I am so excited to be able to play along! For Color Round Up #1, she picked some great fall colors. I decided to combine them with this week’s sketch on Stamping 411.

Since Holly was kind enough to include Early Espresso as one of the colors, I decided to use the two-step owl punch for the shape on the sketch. I love this little guy! I sponged some Pumpkin Pie ink over the Daffodil Delight card stock to tone it down a notch.

Stamps: Wood Grain, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Sweet & Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other: Pumpkin Pie Satin Ribbon, Two-Step Owl Punch, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Brights Brads (Daffodil Delight), Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponge

Congratulations to Holly on her new Color Round Up. I’m looking forward to playing along again next week!

One of the most amazing things that has happened to me in my three years as a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator is the fabulous friendships I have formed and the amazing connections with people all over the country. I feel very fortunate to be a part of a wonderful group of women at Stampin’ Addicts. It was fantastic to meet many if them in person here at the Leadership Conference.

Today’s pictures are of people. The first picture is of me with my three roommates, who I have known online for awhile, but had never met in person.

The second picture is with my up-up-up-upline, Margaret, and her daughter Kelli, my up-up-upline. They are warm, wonderful woman and I am proud to be part of their downline.

The final picture is of me with Shelli Gardner, co-founder and CEO of Stampin’ Up. I was so excited that I actually got to meet her in person!

This is the second card that the 4th graders will be making with their senior buddies at the Jewish Home for the Aging. It is simple to make, yet elegant, with a choice of sayings so they can personalize it. The three sayings included in the set are “Birthday Celebrations,” “You’re on my Mind,” and “Thank you for your friendship.”
