Cards

It’s May, and that means a new inspiration challenge from Stampin’ Celebration. This one is rainbow-licious!

My mom loves rainbows, and she also loves the soon to retire stamp set Baroque Motifs, so I decide to combine them into a card for her. I embossed the thanks in gold, like it is gold at the end of the rainbow.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs
Ink: Garden Green, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, VersaMark
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: Gold Embossing Powder

Less than 3 weeks left of the current Stampin’ Up catalog! Be sure to get everything you want off of the retiring lists before they are gone forever.

It’s been awhile since I played along with the clean&simple challenge. I really liked this week’s sketch, and I wanted to get back into it.

I decided that square would be perfect for Clear Block stamping. That is where you put ink directly on the clear block itself to make a background for your image. I inked up Clear Block D with Pool Party ink to create this one. It doesn’t cover everything perfectly, but that’s part of the appeal of this technique. I used a Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up just the outline of the Jewish star, and not the Shalom in the middle.

Stamps: Shalom
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo
Paper: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White
Other: Clear Block D

When I went back to look at the sketch, I realized I had strayed more from it than I usually do. Oh, and I hand wrote the Mazel Tov at the bottom with my Island Indigo Stampin’ Write Marker. Don’t forget, this gorgeous Shalom stamp is only available until May 30th!

I am so excited to be offering a new stamping option! Each month I will be choosing one stamp set, and offering that for sale with a pre-cut kit to make 6 cards with it (2 each of 3 designs). The kit includes all of the card stock and accessories as well as color pictures of the finished cards — you just need the ink!  You can choose whether you want the stamp set in wood mount or clear mount, or, if you already own it, no stamps at all. If the stamp set is available in another language, you can choose that as well. (Sorry, no substitutions for a different stamp set.) Purchase the Kit by the 20th of each month, and you will receive it by the end of the month. All taxes and shipping are included in the price.

The May Stamp Set of the Month is the super cute truck set, I Dig You.

Each kit contains the supplies to create two each of the following three cards. Everything is pre-cut, and anything that needs to be punched or embossed has already been done. You do need the ink, so contact me if you would like to order that as well.

As soon as I saw this week’s color challenge from Our Creative Corner, I knew that I had to play along! It’s not my usual color scheme, and it has yellow, which as you know is my mom’s favorite color.

Did you know that the Lace Ribbon Border Punch will not be available after May 30th? It’s a real shame, since this punch makes such lovely accents. One of the things I really like to do with it is place circles of an accent color behind the punch, as I did in today’s card.

Stamps: Thank You Kindly
Ink: VersaMark
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: White Embossing Powder, Lace Ribbon Border Punch, 1″ Circle Punch

I like the way this card came out. And it’s nice and flat for easy mailing, too.

I saw this super cute card on Kay Kalthoff’s blog this morning, and I used it as my starting point for both the Stamping 411 sketch challenge and the Pals Paper Arts color challenge.

There are a couple things I really like about the Flower Fest stamp set. One is the scribbley, whimsical look, and the other is that it matches so many punches!

Stamps: Flower Fest, Thank You Kindly
Ink: Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze
Paper: Baja Breeze, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Whisper White, Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Fancy Flower Punch, Fire Circle Rhinestone Brads

Both of the stamp sets I used on this card, Flower Fest and Thank You Kindly, are being discontinued and will not be available after May 30th. All of the rhinestone brads are retiring as well.

Another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I just love circles!

I broke out a new set for this one. It’s not really new, it’s been in the catalog since last July. But my nephew has recently fallen in love with trucks, so I just had to get it!

Stamps: I Dig You
Ink: More Mustard, Basic Black, Not Quite Navy
Paper: More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla, Regals Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: 3″ Circle Die, 3 1/2″ Circle Die, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Not Quite Navy 1 1/4″ Striped Grosgrain

Like this stamp set and card? It’s the first in the series of Stamp of the Month kits that I will be offering. I’ll have more information about this for you on Monday.

My mom’s birthday was yesterday, and it was a pretty good big one. I wanted to make her a spectacular card to wish her happy birthday, so I decided to make one of those Cascading Cards that I have seen floating around online lately. I found a great tutorial over at Jan Farring’s blog. These cards are great because they fold down flat and mail in a regular envelope, but open up into a real WOW! Here is the card I made for my mom, opened up in all of it is glory.

Stamps: Perfect Punches, Flight of the Butterfly, Baroque Motifs
Ink: Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
Paper: Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Butterfly Punch, Extra Large Oval Punch, Butterfly Punch, Old Olive Dotted Scallop Ribbon, Labels Collection Framelits, Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Simply Scored

So you can get a better idea of how this card works, I want to show you the top view as well.

And this is what it looks like all folded down.

Remember, Flight of the Butterfly, Baroque Motifs, and the Butterfly Punch are all retiring at the end of May. Happy birthday, Mom! I hope you had a great day!

This week’s sketch from retro sketches was a little bit tricky, but definitely fun!

For my three objects up the left side, I decided to use the fun balloons from the soon-to-be retiring Party This Way stamp set. This is such a great set for children’s birthday cards, and it is only available until the end of May. That red and white striped paper is from the Big Top Birthday pack, and is also retiring.

Stamps: Party This Way
Ink: Real Red, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper
Other: Island Indigo Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Don’t forget! Today is the last day of the Occasions Mini Catalog! We don’t know yet if anything from it will be available after today, so if you love it, buy it now!

Another nice clean sketch from Stamping 411 this weekend. I much prefer the clean sketches!

For this card I created my lollipops with the Sweets for the Sweet stamp set. This set will still be available in the next catalog, but the adorable matching paper will not.  All of the 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon is retiring as well.

Stamps: Sweets for the Sweet
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Peach Parfait, Old Olive, Whisper White, Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper
Other:  Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, 1″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Peach Parfait is one of the 2010-2012 In Colors, and everything in that color is retiring as well. Many of the accessories are sold out already, so if there is something you must have, shop soon! The other retiring In Colors are Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, and Blushing Bride.

Hello and welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Stamp Sets blog hop! You may have just come from Carmen’s blog, where she showed you the super cute Under the Stars stamp set, or you may be starting here. Either way, all of the blogs link in a circle and you will be able to find your way back to wherever you started. The most important thing to keep in mind is that none of these stamp sets will be available after May 30th!

I am excited to be featuring the stamp set Season of Friendship. I love this set! It is my go to set for Fall cards, and for this first card I have to show you, I have used it in this traditional way. I used the Rock & Roll technique to ink up the leaves. (Please note that Poppy Parade is one of the retiring In Colors, so anything with Poppy Parade in it will be gone!)

Stamps: Season of Friendship
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, Poppy Parade
Paper: Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Other: Poppy Parade Poly Ribbon, Labels Collection Framelits

Since the tree comes bare, it is easy to dress it up for any season. For my second card, I used some embossing powder and torn paper to make a fun winter scene.

Stamps: Season of Friendship
Ink: Early Espresso, VersaMark
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: White Embossing Powder, Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder

My third card uses the tree in an entirely different way. I turned it on its side to make a perch for the owl! I embossed my leaves so that they would show up against the Bashful Blue sky. (Please note that both the Bashful Blue satin ribbon and the Oval All stamp set will be retiring as well.)

Stamps: Season of Friendship, Oval All
Ink: Chocolate Chip, VersaMark, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Wild Wasabi Embossing Powder, Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Owl Punch, Scallop Square Duo Die

For my final card, I used all of the stamps in the set except for the tree!

Stamps: Season of Friendship
Ink: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Early Espresso
Paper: Poppy Parade, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper
Other: 1″ Square Punch

Thanks for stopping by! Remember, retiring stamp sets are available until May 30th, but retiring accessories are only available while supplies last. The next blog on the hop is Debra’s where she will be showing you the lovely Flight of the Butterfly. Isn’t it amazing what she does with that set?
