Birthday

I am so excited to show you the card I made this morning! Sometimes a great idea just hits, and I love it when it actually works out on paper like it did in my head. This card combines the latest sketch from Unscripted Sketches and this week’s colors from the Dynamic Duo.

I had no idea what I could do with it when I first saw the sketch. It was cute, but nothing jumped right out at me. Then I saw the colors, and the “dessert option,” and I realized what the shape on the left looked like! A Lego! It was perfect for that!

Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Pacific Point
Paper: Pacific Point, Basic Black, Whisper White, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack
Other: 1/2″ Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Owl Builder Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The balloon is made out of the Small Oval Punch and the Owl Builder Punch. The little part that you blow it up with is actually an owl’s foot. How cute is that? I found the idea on Pinterest, of course. I used a retired birthday stamp  — the cute font was perfect for this card. I’m so glad that I got this one before it retired. Just remember, there’s only about two weeks left of this catalog! Get the retiring items while you can, so you don’t regret it later.

There is another fun sketch from Seize the Birthday this week. They’ve changed their format, and have one sketch every two weeks without specifying masculine or feminine.

Sketch 17

For this week’s sketch I pulled out the Dress Up Framelits. I just love this cute dress so much! I wanted a belt for it, but the 3/8″ taffeta ribbon just seemed a bit too wide. So I folded it in half instead, and I love the way it turned out!

Just two weeks left to get these goodies from the Occasions catalog. Don’t miss out!

Freshly Made Sketches has a fun new sketch this week, with a great big space for a fun image!

My nephew is turning three next month, and he is super into dinosaurs! I wanted to make him a card with the soon-to-be retiring Dinoroar stamp set, but I didn’t want to get the set just for one card (not like I haven’t done that before…). Anyway, my friend and fellow demonstrator Cindy Elam came to the rescue! She stamped some of the images for me, and I was able to create this great dino card based on one by Rita Wright. If you are looking for a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator in or around El Cajon, I highly recommend Cindy!

Other: Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The images are stamped on shimmery white cardstock. It is great for watercoloring with reinkers (like I did) and adds a fun sparkle to the card. The pterodactyl is cut out and popped up on the card. Thanks again, Cindy!

Another fun sketch from Chic Challenges this week! That big stripe down the middle holds so many possibilities.

A while ago I had pinned a super cute card ice cream cone card by Jill Franchett. This was just the perfect sketch for that huge tower of ice cream.

A Word for You is one of the stamp sets that is retiring on June 3rd, so be sure to pick it up before it is too late.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who are celebrating today! Mother’s Day for me means time to create in my stamping room, in addition to spending time with family later today. I put together two very special challenges for you today. Dynamic Duos is celebrating their one year anniversary and CAS-ual Fridays is celebrating their 100th challenge and two year anniversary. I had a lot of fun combing these challenges!

For Dynamic Duos, I picked challenge #34, Melon Mambo and Island Indigo. (Well, actually Eve picked it.) and for CAS-ual Friday, I used the left hand column: polka dots, square card, and birthday. They really worked well together!

The finished card is a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ square, so it will fit into a regular envelope. This adorable stamp set does not appear in the new catalog, so if you want it, be sure to order it before May 31st.

Hello and welcome to the 5th Annual Stampin’ Addicts Retiring Stamp Sets blog hop! This is the first stop on the hop, but if you have just come from Debra’s blog, that’s okay too. All of the blogs link in a circle and you will be able to find your way back to wherever you started. The most important thing to keep in mind is that none of these stamp sets will be available after June 3rd!

I am excited to be featuring the stamp set Build a Blossom and the coordinating Blossom Petal Punch. This stamp set makes great flowers, with a variety of petals and leaves to choose from. My first card is a simple five petal flower using the biggest petal and a couple of leaves. I used a pencil to curl up the edges of the flower.

Paper: Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Whisper White

My second card starts with the same large petal stamp, but this time I used eight of them. I then added some of the smaller petals as well. This big flower is decorating the front of a twisted gift card holder. It really adds a wow to the front.

These flowers aren’t just for summer though. By using one of the medium petals, I created a nice fall flower.

My final project isn’t a flower at all! A brilliant crafter saw the goldfish in these stamps, and I had to make a cad to show you just how adorable these fishies are! I made the bowl with the Oval Framelits. I didn’t use the punch on this one, instead I cut out the pieces after I stamped them. I also changed the saying by using my marker to ink up everything except the W, and the writing in an F.

I hope that you have enjoyed this stop on the Blog Hop. Your next stop is over at Mary’s Blog, where she will be reminding you just how fabulous Circle Circus is. Remember, you only have until June 3rd to get these stamp sets.

I have a double challenge twirly-whirly birthday card for you today. I combined the fabulous sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch with the great colors from Dynamic Duos.

I was a little sneaky with the Cloudy Day embossing folder. (I know it is a little hard to see in the picture.) The clouds on it are oriented the long way (landscape), and the folder is too wide to go through the Big Shot sideways with the card stock sticking out. So I embossed the Baja Breeze piece in two separate pieces, and then hid the seam with the piece of Daffodil Delight chevrons.

Paper: Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper, Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Pinwheel Sizzlet, Cloudy Day Embossing Folder, Brights Brads, Corner Rounder

Just so you know, the Pinwheel Sizzlet, the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder, and the Wishes Your Way stamp set are not in the new catalog. There may or may not be a carry over list from the Occasions catalog, so if you really like these, I would recommend getting them before the catalog ends at the end of May.

I made a quick and easy card with this classic sketch from Seize the Birthday this week.

Sketch 16

I used one of the super cute stamps from Best of Birthdays to put this card together really quickly. I love these Best of sets, they have such great images! Stampin’ Up is releasing one a month. Click here to see the ones that have come out so far.

Layered ribbon is such a fun look. I started doing it in My Digital Studio, and it has made it’s way into real life, too!

It’s the second week of the same Seize the Birthday sketch, which means it needs to be a masculine birthday card this week.

I just got the second photopolymer set from Stampin’ Up — the sayings are a little edgier than the regular Stampin’ Up fare. It is called Bombs Away Birthday (not the best timing, right?) and the words “Happy Birthday” are in a little bomb shape. I didn’t really want that on my card, but I found that it was easy enough to use my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to make it a circle instead.

Don’t forget — the retiring accessories are selling out quickly. Be sure to get your favorites before they disappear!

I am so excited and honored to have been chosen as one of the Chic Challenge favorites for my card last week! It’s a great new challenge! Today I have a card for you from another one of my favorite challenges, Freshly Made Sketches. It’s a very clean and versatile sketch this week.

Carry On is one of the hostess sets in the current Stampin’ Up catalog, so of course it is on the retiring stamp list. It is super cute and fun, and fit just perfectly on this sketch. I combined it with the also retiring Patio Party designer series paper.
