Big Shot

Great sketch from clean&simple stamping this weekend. I really like the added interest of the half circle on the left.

I knew I wanted to play with the new Summer Smooches paper, and I realized that I haven’t used my Adorning Accents Edgelits much either. So I put them together and came up with this!

Stamps: Perfectly Penned
Ink: Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Other: Brights Buttons, Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine, Adorning Accents Edgelits, Big Shot

Can I just say how much I love the Perfectly Penned stamp set? It adds so much elegance to any card. And now there’s a digital version, too!

Passover is fast approaching, and that means not only cooking and cleaning, but making cards, of course! I put together this card during Stampin’ Addicts Stamp Jam over the weekend. It is pretty clean and simple, but I think it conveys the look of a Seder plate. I printed out the words in the middle, since I didn’t have a stamp that said what I wanted.

Ink: Daffodil Delight
Paper:
Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Brights Patterns Designer Series Stack (in Daffodil Delight)
Other:
Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Clear Circle Bigz Die, 3 1/2 inch Circle Bigz Die, 1 inch circle punch, 1 1/4 inch circle punch, 1 3/8 inch circle punch, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

While I have made many Passover cards since then, my all-time favorite is still the Ten Plagues card I made 3 years ago.

Passover starts Friday night at sundown. Whatever holiday you are celebrating next weekend, I hope you enjoy it!

Happy April! Stampin’ Up has a new promotion today, Summer Smooches. This is a sneak peek of a suite of items that will be in the next big catalog starting June 1st. But you can order these products during the month of April! My two favorite items are the fabulous paper and the adorable purse! I showed you this group shot of the purses the other day. Aren’t they super cute? Today I have a closer look at each one.

When you first die cut the purse, it looks like this. (Not pictured is the little strap that is also cut out.)

Once you fold along the score lines, there are two little edges to put your adhesive on, and then it all comes together easily. There is even a little slit for the tab to slide into. I found it helped to wiggle a scissor tip into this slit first, before trying to slip the paper tab in, just to loosen it up a bit. For the first purse, I used everything exactly as it was cut out by the die. I added a brad to the flap for visual interest, but that is all.

Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Other:
Petite Purse Bigz L Die, Neutrals 5/16″ brads

I cut the second purse out of Island Indigo card stock, and added just a flap cut out of the Designer Series Paper. Since this is a steel-ruled die, it is easy to cut these at the same time. I again added a brad to the flap, but I also swapped out the paper handle for a ribbon one. Still super easy, and adds a little more visual interest to the purse.

Ink:
Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight
Paper:

Other:
Petite Purse Bigz L Die, Printed 2011 In Color Designer Brads

The third purse is the opposite of the second. This time I cut the body out of designer series paper, and added a solid card stock flap. I used a button instead of a brad, and used a border punch to create my strap.

Whisper White, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Other:
Petite Purse Bigz L Die, Brights Buttons,  Dotted Scallop Border Punch

I love this little purse! There are already so many creations out there for non-purse things you can make out of it! I can’t wait to try a few!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Addicts 5th Saturday Stamp Jam and Blog Bounce! The Stamp Jam officially starts on March 31, 2012 at 9am Eastern Time. Each hour, a challenge will be posted for you to play along with in the Stamp Jam Thread over on the Stampin’ Addicts site. I am excited to be one of the hostesses. I am featuring the third challenge, which highlights the new Summer Smooches line. This is available for purchase during the month of April, and then again when the next Stampin’ Up catalog begins in June. If you don’t have these products yet, go ahead and create something  featuring the Summer Smooches colors — Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, and/or Tangerine Tango.

The first project I have for you uses the sketch from Stampin’ Addicts Sketch Challenge #128 and features three of the designs in the new Summer Smooches designer series paper. It also has the yummy new Daffodil Delight seam binding! (I used two layers of it so it wouldn’t be so sheer.)

Stamps: Perfect Punches
Ink:
Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo
Paper:
Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Other:
Daffodil Delight Seam Binding, Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

My second project is a trio of thank you notes. They were super easy to make with the Summer Smooch paper and my Simply Scored! Come back later in the week and I will have a closer look at the these three cards for you.

Stamps: Thank You Kindly
Ink:
Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango
Paper:
Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper
Other:
Labels Collection Framelits, Simply Scored

The final project I want to show you today are these adorable purses from the new Petite Purse Bigz L Die. Again, if you come back later in the week, I’ll have a closer look at each one. These purses are fairly small — each holds about four Hershey’s Nuggets. They are super cute and easy to make. The die does cut out a strap for the purse, as seen on the purse on the left. You can easily substitute this for ribbon (on the middle one) or a border punched strap (right). There is a slot for the flap to slip into, so the brads and buttons are merely decorative.

For today’s card I combined this weekend’s Stamping411 challenge with the Friday Mashup. Stamping411 has a great sketch with a large focal image. This works perfectly with the Friday Mashup’s challenge to create a quilt card. I love quilt cards and it’s been a long time since I made one.

I used some more of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration (which ends Saturday!!) to create my quilt. The 1″ square punch was super handy in getting the exact part of the designs that I wanted. For the part of the Mashup challenge to “use something that’s been forgotten,” I used my Curly Label punch. That seems to have fallen by the wayside since the Decorative Label punch came out.

Stamps: Baby Bundle
Ink: Peach Parfait
Paper: Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
Other: Curly Label Punch, 1″ Square Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Pool Party Seam Binding

I don’t know if you can see it that well in the picture, but I ran the “quilted” piece through the Big Shot in the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions folder to give it more of a quilted look.

I love the off-center circle on this week’s sketch from clean&simple stamping. The butterfly is a fabulous touch as well.

Of course I had to use the gorgeous Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. I love the subtle butterflies throughout. I used one of the sentiments from the You’re My Type stamp. They are great with or without the typewriter!

Stamps: You’re My Type
Ink: Pool Party
Paper: Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper
Other: Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Scallop Circle #2 Die, 3″ Circle Die, Word Window Punch, Basic Pearls

Don’t forget, Sale-a-Bration ends in less than one week. And when it is over, this gorgeous Everyday Enchantment paper is gone. Make sure to get all that you need before that happens!

As many of you know, my husband had a pretty major back surgery this past Monday. I wanted to send him to the hospital with a fun “Get Well” something, but more than just a card. Eve made him a great poster for the wall of his hospital room. So I figured, what says “Get Well” better than chocolates? Nothing, really. So I made a cute three-tiered matchbox dresser full of chocolates.

The brads I used as drawer handles are from the retired Hodge Podge Hardware. Did you know that this is still available on the Clearance Rack? And it’s only $12.99 instead of $29.99!! Crazy! I filled those drawers with chocolate nuggets wrapped in little band-aid like wrappers.

Stamps: It’s a Wrap Occasions, Perfectly Penned
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Peach Parfait
Paper: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper, labels
Other: Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Silver Hodge Podge Hardware

For now it is sitting by his bed side. I’ll know he’s on the mend when he eats the chocolate inside!

Really fun challenge for the Friday Mashup this week! (Yes, I know it is Sunday, but hey, I play when I can.)

So here is the “Mashup” Challenge :
  1. Make a project using “Paper Piercing”.
  2. Or Make a project using the colors “Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red & Early Espresso”.
  3. Or “Mash it Up” and create a project with the “Color Combo & Paper Piercing”.

I decided to try and make a heart shaped card using my new Framelits, but I wasn’t sure if they were able to cut through two pieces of cardstock. The answer, as you can see below, is that yes you can. I will tell you, though, that it is not recommended by Stampin’ Up or Sizzix. So only do what you feel comfortable with. You can see the hinge for the card on the top left, where I kept the fold inside the Framelit. For the paper piercing part of the Mashup, I poked a hole in each of the scallops of the base heart. And really, even though it looks black, that is Early Espresso!

Stamps: Word Play, Woodgrain
Ink: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso, Blushing Bride
Other: Hearts Collection Framelits, Small Heart Punch, Big Shot, Paper Piercer

I stamped the Early Espresso heart with Very Vanilla Craft Ink and the Woodgrain background stamp to make it look more like wood.  I can’t remember the last time I used that ink pad. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked great!

Wowsers! Today is my 16th anniversary. Below is the card I made for my husband. It was so fun and easy to make with the new Heart Framelits! This card was inspired by a card made by Tonya Byrd that I saw on Stampin’ Connection, a Stampin’ Up demonstrator only website. (There are currently over 200,000 samples posted! Another great reason to be a demonstrator!)

Stamps: Take it to Heart, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Real Red, VersaMark
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Whisper White, Big Top Birthday DSP
Other: Hearts Framelits, Word Window Punch, Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Tempting Turquiose Embossing Powder

I just love how that image looks embossed, and I’m so happy that Stampin’ Up has so many great colors of embossing powder now!

Thank you all for your good wishes!  It is slow going, but I am beginning to recover from the pneumonia. I haven’t had the energy to stamp anything in awhile, but I do have some projects that I haven’t posted yet.

Did you know that the new Hanukkah Stamp fits perfectly on the top of the Matchbox? Oh yes! And how fabulous is this Tempting Turquoise Embossing Powder?

And here’s a picture of the side (sorry it is blurry) so that you can see that cute little Glimmer Brad knob.

Stamps: Hanukkah
Ink: VersaMark
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack
Other: Tempting Turquoise Embossing Powder, Brights Glimmer Brads, Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Big Shot

Occasions Mini Catalogs and Sale-a-Bration Catalogs should be arriving mid-December in your mailbox! If you have purchased from me in the last year, then one is on the way to you! Keep an eye out for them, since there are so many catalogs around this time of year. The Occasions Mini Catalog is regular size, but the SAB catalog is long and skinny. Both are full of fabulous items, as always!
