This week’s sketch from retro sketches was a little bit tricky, but definitely fun!

For my three objects up the left side, I decided to use the fun balloons from the soon-to-be retiring Party This Way stamp set. This is such a great set for children’s birthday cards, and it is only available until the end of May. That red and white striped paper is from the Big Top Birthday pack, and is also retiring.

Another nice clean sketch from Stamping 411 this weekend. I much prefer the clean sketches!

For this card I created my lollipops with the Sweets for the Sweet stamp set. This set will still be available in the next catalog, but the adorable matching paper will not.  All of the 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon is retiring as well.

You may have just come from Carmen’s blog, where she showed you the super cute Under the Stars stamp set, or you may be starting here. Either way, all of the blogs link in a circle and you will be able to find your way back to wherever you started. The most important thing to keep in mind is that none of these stamp sets will be available after May 30th!

I am excited to be featuring the stamp set Season of Friendship. I love this set! It is my go to set for Fall cards, and for this first card I have to show you, I have used it in this traditional way. I used the Rock & Roll technique to ink up the leaves. (Please note that Poppy Parade is one of the retiring In Colors, so anything with Poppy Parade in it will be gone!)

Since the tree comes bare, it is easy to dress it up for any season. For my second card, I used some embossing powder and torn paper to make a fun winter scene.

My third card uses the tree in an entirely different way. I turned it on its side to make a perch for the owl! I embossed my leaves so that they would show up against the Bashful Blue sky. (Please note that both the Bashful Blue satin ribbon and the Oval All stamp set will be retiring as well.)

I have a fun fold card for you today. This is a triangle trifold card, and it is super cute! It looks tricky, but the Simply Scored makes it so easy.

Stamps: Packed for Birthday

Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White
Other: Tempting Turquoise ¼” Grosgrain Ribbon, Simply Scored, Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

Because they are so fun, and I think you would enjoy making one too, I put together a tutorial, so you can make your own.

Supplies:
3 ½” x 10 ½” cardstock
3 ¼” x 3 ¼” cardstock (for inside if desired)
3” x 3” cardstock for front
17” of ribbon
Simply Scored score tool
Simply Scored diagonal plate
Ink and stamps to decorate

Score the card base at 3 ½” and 7”.

Switch to the diagonal score board, and score each of the outside squares. Make sure that the scores are going in the same direction.

Fold each side in towards the middle, then fold the triangles out.

Fold the card up, and tie the ribbon around it, with the bow on the right hand side. Glue your front square on top, being sure to place the glue only in the top left corner. Continue to decorate as desired.

When the card is opened, it will look like this:

There is a My Digital Studio tab to the top right hand corner of this blog. It shows all of the MDS software artwork (contained in the boxed-version) and downloads from the October 2009 launch through March 31, 2012! The catalog gives a snapshot of the entire product line with artwork thumbnails followed by product details, which includes the colors of the designer papers! Because MDS is regularly coming out with new artwork, the catalog will be updated every month.

Since I had my after-school kids make Mother’s Day cards, I figured it was only fair to have them make Father’s Day cards as well! We used the super cute Packed for Dad stamp and Paula’s great sketch from Stampin’ Addicts Sketch Challenge #126 for this one.

What a fun sketch from Retro Sketches this week, with three little tabs hanging from the corner!

I haven’t used my Party This Way stamp set much since I got free during Sale-a-Bration. This set is also in the big catalog but it will not be available after May 31st. I love how it coordinates with the Pennant punch, so I decided to use three pennants in the corner. I used a needle to run my Baker’s Twine easily through the pennants.
