Welcome to the Builder Wheel stop on the Stampin’ Addicts Summer Mini Catalog Blog Hop! You may have just come from Tanya’s blog (Aren’t her projects stinkin’ cute? I love that set!) or you may be starting here. Either way, the blogs will link you all the way around in a circle.

Builder wheels provide so many options. You can use one, two, or three of them at a time. You must use them with special builder wheel spindle, which includes spacers, and fits in the handle of a jumbo wheel. There are three new builder wheels in the Summer Mini catalog.

My first project is a quick and easy teacher thank you note. I inked up two sections of an uninked triple cartridge with Garden Green and Real Red. It really does not take that much reinker to fill the cartridge.

Stamps: For Teacher Builder Wheel, Elementary Alphabet Builder Wheel, Family Phrases
Ink: Real Red, Garden Green
Paper: Real Red, Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Other: Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Ribbon Border Punch

This second project popped in to my mind when I first saw the crayon wheel. I knew I wanted to make a rainbow of crayons, and the saying from Word Play is just perfect with it!

Stamps: School Colors Builder Wheel, Word Play
Ink: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Other: Ticket Corner Punch, Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

My third project is a Rosh Hashanah card. You know me — I see apples, I think of Rosh Hashanah! I used the builder wheel to create the background of this one. In order to get the Hebrew words “Shana Tova” on the bee hive, I used a baby wipe to carefully remove the ink from the “Hive Sweet Hive” saying before stamping it down, then wrote in the Hebrew afterward.

Stamps: For Teacher Builder Wheel, Just Buzzin’ By
Ink: Real Red, StazOn Jet Black
Paper: More Mustard, Real Red, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Other: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter, Ticket corner Punch, More Mustard Brads

My final project I have to show you today is an 8×8 scrapbook page. I can’t remember the last time that I actually made a physical scrapbook page out of paper! Wheels are so great for this! I added some Pacific Point to the third section of my uninked cartridge, and this was ready to go!

Stamps: For Teacher Builder Wheel, Elementary Alphabet Builder Wheel, School Colors Builder Wheel
Ink: Real Red, Garden Green, Pacific Point
Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Garden Green, Whisper White
Other: Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

Like those beveled corners? Stop back on Monday for a photo tutorial on how I made them. The journaling is printed on the computer.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Next up on the Blog is Lisa, featuring the gorgeous Fabulous Florets set! Her projects are unbelievably stunning.

I am so honored to have been chosen as the party guest designer on the Stampin’ Celebration Inspiration Challenge blog this week! Here’s the inspiration:

As soon as I saw those cookie dresses, I knew just what I was going to make! A prom dress card for my brother! I’ve been wanting to make one of these scallop circle dress cards for a while, and this was the perfect time. Why for my brother? He just directed the movie Prom which opens everywhere tomorrow. We went to the premiere last week, and I wanted to make him a card to thank him for inviting us and congratulating him on a fabulous movie. Here’s what I came up with. It’s hard to tell, but the word “congratulations” is stamped in Whisper White craft ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.

Stamps: Something to Celebrate (hostess)
Ink: Whisper White craft
Paper: Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pink Pirouette
Other: Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon, Bitty Buttons, Bitty Punch Pack, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Big Shot

This card also works well for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week, which features buttons! I used a clear bitty button on this one, with a punched piece of melon mambo behind it.

I hope that you will be play along with the Stampin’ Celebration Inspiration Challenge this week, and Pals Paper Arts, too! I also hope that you will go see Prom this weekend. If you do, leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Interested in this card, but don’t have time to make your own? Use the button below to purchase a pack of 5 already made. You have a choice on the saying — Congratulations, Happy Birthday, or no saying at all.

Yowza! What a tough ColourQ challenge today!

As looked through my pictures for ones with lots of greens in them, I found these super cute miniature golf pictures from last summer. I played around with different background ideas, and finally decided to make a scene. (No, not like that. But I was close…) The clouds ar actually the top of the cupcake punch, stretched a little. The grass? It is Tasteful Trim Shape #3, stretched very tall and layered. I used drop shadows to make them stand out more.

It was fun using the punches in different ways! Yet another reason that I love My Digital Studio!

I’ve had quite a few people asking me if they can purchase my cards lately, so I’ve decided to add a new feature to my blog. After some of the cards, you will see an option to purchase packs of them! I do have a Etsy shop with a variety of cards for sale, but these will be on-going. I’m going to kick it off with 4 options today. If there are others that you saw and wanted, let me know! After that, be sure and look at the bottom of each blog post to see if it is something you can buy. Of course, I always take custom orders! (All prices including shipping. US Only.)

Just click on Digital Crafting, then Digital Downloads, then Newest Downloads to see all of the recent additions! If you registered your copy of My Digital Studio, you may also receive end-of-the month emails from Stampin’ Up featuring that month’s digital releases.

There is a My Digital Studio tab to the top right hand corner of this blog. It is a handy reference to a variety of My Digital Studio resources, including a list of all of the downloads and a break down of the printing costs. There is also a new Resources pageon MyDigitalStudio.net that includes an MDS Catalog. It shows all of the MDS software artwork (contained in the boxed-version) and downloads from the October 2009 launch through March 2011! The catalog gives a snapshot of the entire product line with artwork thumbnails followed by product details, which includes the colors of the designer papers! Because MDS is regularly coming out with new artwork, the catalog will be updated every month.

Running Out of Time is a fabulous book by Margaret Peterson Haddix, but that’s not what I am talking about right now…
April is ending soon, and with it a great deal of Stampin’ Up products and specials! In fact, the Occasions mini catalog will be gone after April 30th. There are some items that will continue to be available after it ends. These include the Big Shot items, the fabric, the Glimmer Paper, and a few (but not all) of the colors of the seam binding. You can see the full list of carryover items here. These will be available at least until the new Idea Book & Catalog starts on July 1st.  Don’t have a copy of the mini catalog handy? You can download the PDF of the Mini Catalog and also one of the supplies used to create all of the fabulous samples! Quite a few stamp sets also have Spanish versions — you can see those here. And when you are ready to shop, just click here!

The other special ending is Spring is Blossoming. This is the sneak peek special  – you can purchase the Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper this month only. Then they go back into “the vault” until the new catalog begins in July. You know you want these, so why wait until July? Get them now!

To see more about these gorgeous items and learn more about the special, please download the flyer or visit my online store. I love the Four Frames set — it matches the beautiful Decorative Label Punch! Don’t miss out on it!

Another great sketch from Stamping 411 today. That nice long piece across the middle is the perfect space for a Stampin’ Around Wheel.

Looking at that, I decided that this would be a great time to give you a sneak peak of the new builder wheels coming in the Summer Mini catalog. I’ll be featuring these as part of the Stampin’ Addicts summer mini catalog blog hop, which starts on Friday. I hope you’ll come back to see more!

Stamps: For Teacher Builder Wheel, Elementary Alphabet Builder Wheel, School Colors Builder Wheel, Four Frames, Family Phrases
Ink: Real Red, Garden Green, Pacific Point
Paper: Real Red, Garden Green, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Other: Decorative Label Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Real Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

Just a reminder, the Four Frames stamp set is only available until the end of the month, and then you’ll have to wait until July when it appears in the new Idea Book and Catalog!

I went to a bridal shower a few weeks ago, the same one that I made the invitation for. I wanted to make a card that was different, but that used the same colors as her wedding — Bashful Blue, White, & Silver. I decided to use vellum for a softer look. I embossed it, because, well, because embossed vellum looks really cool! I suppose the saying is more for a wedding, but I think it works for a bridal shower too.

Stamps: Word Play
Ink: VersaMark, Bashful Blue
Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Vellum Cardstock
Other: Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Silver Embossing Powder, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Whisper White Satin Ribbon

I cleverly hid my adhesive behind the ribbon. Sneaky, huh?

As many of you know, my brother is a movie director. Last night we were lucky enough to go the premiere of his latest film, Disney’s Prom. It was fabulous!! And I’m not just saying that because he is my brother. It is a great film, no matter what your high school experience was like. It’s kind of like Breakfast Club meets Pretty in Pink.

The premiere was at the El Capitan Theatre, and the party afterwards was very appropriately held in the gym at Hollywood High. One of the souvenirs was a prom picture, which they put in a frame decorated with images from the movie. (Another gift was a candy necklace, but you’ll have to see the movie to find out why.) I put together a quick page in My Digital Studio featuring this picture to share with you today.

The movie was fantastic! I hope you’ll go see it when it opens next weekend. Drop me a note if you do, I’d love to hear what you think!

Another great sketch challenge from Pals Paper Arts this week!

When I saw the large circle on it, I knew it would be perfect with the Take a Spin stamp set. Remember, this set is in the Occasions Mini catalog,  and may only be available until the end of the month. We did have word that the actual game spinners will be available after the catalog ends, but not necessarily the set itself. This would be a super cute end of the school year card — for kids or teachers!

Stamps: Take a Spin
Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point, Old Olive
Paper: Pacific Point, Rel Red, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Celebrations Designer Series Paper
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Real Red Satin Ribbon, Old Olive 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

I felt that the sketch called for a band that was wider than a single strip of ribbon, so I put two pieces of the Real Red satin ribbon next to each other, and covered the center with a piece of te Old Olive grosgrain. A great way to make a wier stripe!
