Archive for January, 2011

It’s not my week to be on the ColourQ Design team, since I’m on for the odd challenges only. But I couldn’t resist playing along anyway! Here are this week’s colors:

Kind of challenging colors, if I do say so myself! I decided this would be a good time to try the super cute rosebuds that I had seen made out of the wing from the Two-Step Bird punch! I punched the petals out of Poppy Parade, and then sponged Cherry Cobbler on the edges for depth. The finished card is a 4 1/4″ square.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobbler
Paper: Poppy Parade, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Other: Two-Step Bird Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Poppy Parade Poly Ribbon, Crop-a-Dile, Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Do you like how I made a smaller square border with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder? A big thank you to Jennifer Timko for her fantastic photo tutorial on how to do this! It was much easier than I expected!

I got a chance to combine three challenges again today, and I’m pretty pleased with how the card came out! I used the colors from Curtain Call Color Challenge, the sketch from clean&simple, and the inspiration from Stampin’ Celebration.

Here’s the card I came up with. See that cute owl? He’s part of a brand new set that will be available for FREE during Sale-a-Bration, starting next week! He coordinates with the Owl punch!

Stamps: Punch Bunch (owl), Look Who’s Turning (words), Beary Best Friends (balloons)
Ink: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red
Paper: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, Brights Designer Series Paper Stack
Other: Two-Step Owl Punch

Keep an eye out for more Sale-a-Bration sneak peeks!

When I saw Mickey Robert’s super cute card with the flamingos on it, I knew I wanted to make a similar one. This week’s ColorLab Color Challenge colors seemed like the perfect time to try it!

Aren’t these great colors for a Valentine? I love how it says to add a touch of Crumb Cake! Here’s what I came up with.

Stamps: Valentine Defined
Ink: Rose Red, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride
Paper: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, In Colors Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack (Blushing Bride)
Other: Blushing Bride Poly Twill Ribbon, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, Paper Piercer

Rose Red is a very good flamingo color, I have to say.  I just love this new stamp set!

I have a special post for you today from my favorite guest blogger, Eve! She’s been having fun coming up with at all different color combinations using the color coach lately, and used it to pick this combo out. I’m not sure if she intends to give it to one of her friends who likes dogs, or actually to one of the dogs.

Stamps: Long Fellows, D is for Dog
Ink: Basic Black, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise
Other: Tulip Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

I love stamping with her and seeing what she comes up with!

Happy Anniversary to my honey!! We were married 15 years ago today. Wow, time sure flies! We’ve known each other over half our lives now. Crazy! I wanted to make a really special card, so I looked up what the 15th anniversary is. It’s crystal. Crystal? How was I going to make a card with crystal? So I put on my thinking cap, and here is what I came up with. There are Dazzling Diamonds inside the Sweet Treat Cup, and Iridescent Ice embossing powder over the wheel stamped in the background. I also added some Crystal Effects inside the ribbon buckle.

Stamps: Sweet Centers, Language of Love Wheel
Ink: Real Red, Night of Navy, VersaMark
Paper: Real Red, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Other: Sweet Treat Cup, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Night of Navy 5/8″ satin ribbon, Hodge Podge Hardware, Crystal Effects

What do you think? Did I make it crystal-y enough?

Ever since I made my first card with the inlaid embossing technique last fall, I’ve been wanting to try another one. I’ve seen some great examples popping up all over the place! I thought Valentine’s Day, with heart punches, would be the perfect opportunity! And lucky for me, Pals Paper Arts has a Valentine inspiration challenge today!  I choose a Real Red background, and used the Small Heart Punch. Don’t they look just like the candy Conversation Hearts? I hope so!

Stamps: Valentine Defined
Ink:
Real Red, Pretty in Pink
Paper:
Real Red, Crumb Cake, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other:
Pretty in Pink 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder, Big Shot

Have you tried this yet? It’s such a fun technique!

So, have I kept you wondering what my exciting news could be? Well, wonder no further! Over the weekend I was chosen to be a part of the ColourQ Royal Court Design Team! I am so excited! I absolutely love this color challenge, and have been playing along for quite awhile, so when Arielle posted that she was looking to add some scrapbookers, I jumped on it! I’ll be officially posting every other week, and most likely playing along on the week’s in between. I hope you will too! Here are this week’s colors. Aren’t they so bright and fabulous?

I went hunting through my photos when I saw these colors, and was thrilled to find that this picture of Eve and her best friend had all of the colors in it. How cute are they with Jack? And no, he’s not quite fully grown yet.

I hope you’ll come over to ColourQ and come play along too!

Happy Birthday to my little brother! My brother Joey’s birthday is today, and we celebrated over the weekend. I used a brand-new stamp set to make him his card. It is a fantastic set of five stamps that each match a different punch, and it’s only available during Sale-a-Bration (coming up at the end of the month). If you love stamp sets that match punches as much as I do, you won’t want to miss this one. It even has a stamp that matches the owl punch! But that’s not the one I used on this card. I used the Happy Birthday one, which matches the scallop square punch.

Stamps: Punch Bunch
Ink: Pacific Point
Paper: Pacific Point, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Celebrations Designer Series Paper
Other: Scallop Square Punch, Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die (still available!), Old Olive 5/8″ Satin Ribbon
, Big Shot

My brother has a new movie coming out, right after Sale-a-bration ends. It’s called Prom, and I highly recommend you go see it!

I had some time to stamp in between loads of laundry today, and I was excited to find three different challenges that all worked together really well. I used the colors form the Curtain Call Color Challenge, the sketch from Stamping 411, and the theme from Our Creative Corner (Hey Chickadee).

I’m still in a Valentine frame of mind, so I wanted to make something that could work for that. I used the new Language of Love wheel to create the patterned paper at the bottom. (Did you notice that it has “ahava” on it? That means love in Hebrew! I was so excited when I saw it!)

Stamps: Cheep Talk, A Happy Heart, Language of Love wheel
Ink: Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler
Paper: Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Always Artichoke, Whisper White
Other: Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Stamp-a-ma-jig

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig on every stamp on this card! Sure makes me appreciate our clear mount stamps!
Pssst — be sure to stop back Tuesday. I have a surprise announcement.
