Take a Spin on the Occasions Mini Blog Hop

Posted by on December 31, 2010

Welcome to the latest Stampin’ Addicts’ Blog Hop, celebrating Stampin’ Up’s new Occasions Mini Catalog, which starts January 4, 2011. You may have just arrived from Sarah’s blog, where she showed you the super cute new Valentine’s Day set, XOXO, or you may be starting here. Either way, all of the stops link together in one big circle, so you won’t miss any of the great ideas and projects.

I am very excited to be featuring the new set, Take a Spin. It consists of four adorable spinner stamps. The actual spinner hands are sold separately as well, complete with brads and washers for a fabulous spin! Three of the stamps are circles, which work great with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, and the fourth is a square which fits nicely in the larger of the two squares on the Scallop Square Duo Die. For my first project, I chose bright, fun, primary colors for a great kids’ card. It would be wonderful to give your child after a fabulous report card or teacher conference.

Stamps: Take a Spin, Classic Stars Jumbo Wheel
Ink: Real Red, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Real Red, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die, Real Red 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon

For my next card, I stuck with the scallop circle, but otherwise took a drastic departure! As I read the words on the stamp — Wonderful, Kind, Generous, Thoughtful, Funny — I thought of my mom, and realized that this would make a fabulous Mother’s Day card! I added a punched flower in the middle, and used my Big Shot to make the whole card into a scalloped circle.

Paper: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Sweet & Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other: Game Spinner Hands, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Circle Bigz Clear Die, Boho Blossoms Punch, Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon

For the third stamp, I went with a more whimsical look. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers on the stamp to add interest, along with this fabulous piece of gingham print paper from Pawsitively Prints II. It reminds me of a homey Italian restaurant, where you might go to celebrate any of these occasions.

For my final card, I went back to a bright and fun kids card. I based the colors on the Celebrations paper, and thought the arrows were a fun echo to the arrow on the spinner. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers again.
