Archive for November, 2010

This is your last chance at some awesome savings.  The Online Spectacular promotion expires today!  Whether you’re taking advantage of My Digital Studio at 50% off, or the fabulous Matchbox Die for the Big Shot at 30% off (or anything in between), you only have a little time left.  You can place your order directly online by going to my store or by emailing it to me by 10 PM tonight (Nov. 30th).

Also, don’t forget that the Simply Amazing deal on the Starter Kit (Standard or Digital+) expires tonight as well.  If you would like to get well over $300 worth or fabulous Stampin’ Up! product for only $87.50 plus tax, then click the “Start your own Business” button located in the upper right corner on my website, then click on “Join Now”.  When asked for a password, use SUwithYapha. If you decide to join just for the great deal, that is not a problem with Stampin’ Up — the kit is yours to keep, whether you ever place another order as a demonstrator or not.

In other good news, The Watercolor Wonder Crayons are now available for purchase.  The new Watercolor Wonder Crayons were delayed due to a major relocation of the supplier, but Stampin’ Up now has inventory and you can start ordering today!

There is a New Color Kit (#120949, $39.95) you can order if you already have the old Watercolor Wonder Crayon sets.  This kit includes new trays (4), inserts (4), and tins (4) as well as 17 new and previously unavailable color crayons:  Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, River Rock, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Basic Gray.

If ordering complete sets (rather than just the new Color Kit), some of the color sleeves may feature old artwork on them. This does not affect the quality of the crayons; we simply need to deplete inventory of crayons with the old artwork before we use crayons featuring the new artwork.  Here is the ordering information for the new Watercolor Wonder Crayon sets:

  • Subtles (#119802, $16.95)
  • Regals (#119803, $16.95)
  • Brights (#119804, $16.95)
  • Neutrals (#119805, $16.95)

Let me know if you have any questions about any of these fabulous deals!

I had to try this because it looked so cool! I brayed Marina Mist ink on the inside of my embossing folder, and then when I put in the piece of Whisper White, only the raised snowflakes kept their original white! You may notice this card looks remarkably similar to this snowflake card. It is the same basic layout, but a very different feel to the card.

Stamps: All Holidays
Ink: Marina Mist, Crumb Cake
Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake
Other: White Satin Ribbon, Decorative Label Punch, Simple Pearls, Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Stampin’ Dimensionals

A huge thank you to Tanya for posting this adorable snowflake tea light candle set on her blog! After seeing her post so many different versions of the tea lights, I just had to try it. It was so much easier than I thought it was going to be! In fact, we are going to be making these as our final project in the after-school kids’ class. As like a grand finale. With a lot of supervision, of course. The snowflake is cut out of metal flashing with the Big Shot.I took Tanya’s advice and ran it back and forth several times before taking it out of the Big Shot.

(Note: Don’t buy the flashing shingles. They don’t work. Get the flashing on a roll. I found I could cut it with my Craft & Rubber scissors — on sale until Tuesday!)

Stamps: Northern Hearts
Ink: Marina Mist
Other: Tissue Paper, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 1/16″ Handheld Circle Punch, Heat Tool, Snowflake #2 Originals Die, Big Shot

For a complete tutorial on making the tea lights, see Tanya’s Blog.

I like this week’s Clean & Simple sketch — it’s just perfect for a Christmas card for my after-school stamping class to make this week!

I used the Got Treats stamp set again. I love that little Gingerbread Man, and the second graders are doing a short Gingerbread unit between now and Winter Break.

Stamps: Got Treats
Ink: Soft Suede, Real Red, Blushing Bride
Paper: Soft Suede, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Candy Cane Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper
Other: Real Red 5/8″ Satin Ribbon, 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Just so you know, this Candy Cane Lane Paper is on short supply  and may run out soon. Get it now if you need it. Of course, there is a digital option as well, which will never run out.

This week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge is a very square sketch. I love the packs  of designer series paper in the monochromatic colors. They are just perfect for things like this!

Hanukkah is coming up in 5 more days (!), so I knew I’d better make a Hanukkah card for this one! I’m not sure if you can tell by the picture, but the Hanukkiah in the middle is stamped in Whisper White Craft ink, and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. It is very sparkly and fun in real life!

Stamps: Shalom Sayings
Ink: Whisper White Craft Ink
Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Pack (Pacific Point)
Other: Iridescent Ice embossing powder

This is a 4 1/4″ square card, so it will still fit in a standard envelope.

Happy Thanksgiving! When I saw these super cute Build-a-Bear Pilgrims on Heidi’s Blog, I knew that Eve and I had to make them! We had a lot of fun putting these together on Wednesday morning, before all of the cleaning and baking began. These are the ones I put together.

Paper: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Basic Black, Brushed Gold, Real Red
Other: Bear Bigz Die, Beary Essentials Bigz Die, Small Tag Punch, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1/4″ Square Punch, Paper Snips, Big Shot, 2-Way Glue Pen

Eve set hers up in the “Mooflower” that her Savta and Sabba bought for her when we all went to Plimoth Plantation (yes that it how they spelled it) two years ago. How cute are they, making their way to the New World? I think we’ll bring this over to my in-laws as decoration.

Thank you Heidi for the great idea, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Quite a few of the people I work with have bought new houses this fall, including me! Jessica was the first one to move in and have a house-warming party. It was really fun to make a “congrats on your new house” card for someone else. I pulled out my handy dandy Neighborhood Jumbo Wheel, and I tried to match the color of her new house.

Stamps: Neighborhood Jumbo Wheel, Fundamental Phrases
Ink: Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Concord Crush, Cajun Craze, Old Olive, So Saffron
Paper: Baja Breeze, Concord Crush, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Concord Crush Poly Ribbon, Eyelet Border Punch

It was Eve’s idea to color the windows. She said it was an easy way to make it look warm and friendly inside. She was right.

Another great sketch from Stamping 411 this week! Clean and simple and easy to make a great card with!

I decided this would be a great sketch to use to make my nephew a card for his very first Hanukkah. I used the baby from All in the Family, the menorah from Every Little Bit, and the “Happy Hanukkah” from Shalom Sayings. I inked it up with my Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker to get just the words.

Stamps: All in the Family, Every Little Bit, Shalom Sayings
Ink: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Whisper White
Other: Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Hope my brother doesn’t mind that it’s in UCLA colors! (Sorry for the quality of the picture — I’m having some camera issues.)
