Archive for June, 2010

I decided to try a new color challenge this week, one that I have seen a bunch of my friends play. It is Stacey’s Curtain Call Color Challenge. Here are this week’s colors:

We just received the pictures of Jack winning “Best Puppy” at the Great Dane Specialty Show earlier this month, and Steve asked me to make a card to send along with a copy of the picture to the judge who gave him this award. I decided to use these colors for it. I used the new Crumb Cake ink on top of the Kraft (aka Crumb Cake) card stock for the foot prints, and then ran it through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice  Embossing Folder to give it some texture. The stamp is from a new set called Perfect Punches that is in the new catalog.

Stamps: Perfect Punches, P is for Paw Wheel
Ink: Real Red, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake
Paper: Real Red, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake (Kraft), Whisper White
Other: Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (reversed), Scallop Oval Punch, Movers & Shapers Punch Windows, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot

Here’s a picture of Jack and his Best Puppy Award. Doesn’t he look great?

One of the really cool things about having a nephew named Leo is that he can automatically have a lion on everything! He has a lion up in his room, part of the Wild About You decor elements. So I wanted to make a card with a lion for him, and of course I had to make one of Lauren Meader’s onesie cards! We gave this to him yesterday, when he came home from the hospital. (It is also perfect for the Always Playing with Paper Baby theme challenge.)

Stamps: Fox & Friends
Ink: Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Ballet Blue, Whisper White, Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper
Other: Rich Regals Brads, 1 3/8″ Circle Punch, 1 3/4″ Circle Punch

You may remember Fox & Friends from the Occasions Mini Catalog. If you weren’t fortunate enough to purchase it then, have no fear, it is in the big catalog and will be available again on July 1t!  Ballet Blue, however, will be gone for good after June 30th.

I put these thank you notes together pretty quickly.  They use the new 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. I love this! It’s in the new catalog, and will be available to order on Thursday. I made two different looks just by switching which piece of the Designer Series Paper I used.

Here’s the second one:

Stamps: First Day
Ink: Old Olive, Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Whisper White, Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper
Other: 2 3/8″ scallop circle punch, 1 3/4″ circle punch

Both the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper and the entire line of Orchid Opulence products will not be available after Wednesday! Get them while you can!

I am so excited! My brother and his wife had their baby yesterday! He is such a cutie pie. So fun to have a new baby in the family! In celebration of that, I wanted to share with you the card I made for his baby shower. Of course I had to make one of those super cute baby carriage cards! (You can find the original instructions on Lyssa’s blog.)

Paper: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Brushed Silver, Bashful Blue Designer Series Prints Paper
Other: Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Big Shot, Eyelet Border Punch, 3/4″ circle punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch,
Bashful Blue Brads, Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon

I think it came out super cute! Don’t forget, only a few more days until the Last Chance items are gone for good! Both the Bashful Blue Designer Series Prints Paper and the Bashful Blue Taffeta are on that list! Get them before they are gone!

I am so excited that Wild Wasabi is coming back! It is such a fabulous green! I made these monogrammed note cards as an end-of-year gift for the director of my school. When I asked her what her favorite color was, she said dark pink (I immediately thought of Melon Mambo) and green. Eve and I tried out a few other greens with the Melon Mambo, including Old Olive and Certainly Celery. As soon as we saw it with Wild Wasabi, we knew it was a done deal! How gorgeous is this?

Stamps: Jayne’s Type Alphabet
Ink: Wind Wasabi
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo, Whisper White
Other: Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Big Shot, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbons

I love this new embossing folder! So elegant! It will be available in the new catalog as well.

I can tell you right now that you are going to be seeing this color combination PLENTY over the next few months, because I am absolutely in love with Marina Mist and Early Espresso! These are two brand new colors being add to Stampin’ Up’s color line on July 1st (next week)! This is a card I made for a shoebox swap my friend Heather hosted last week. It was a great night of stamping with some really fun women!

Stamps: Circle Circus, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Old Olive
Paper: Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Whisper White
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Old Olive Brad

The richness of these colors are amazing! I wish that you could see them in real life!

I have one last father’s day card to show you, which certainly could be adapted for any other occasion as well.  I made this one for my sister-in-law’s boyfriend. I started with red wine as a theme and wanted to give it a tropical feel. Change up the sentiment, and this would work well as a Hawaiian wedding card too!

Stamps: Cheers to You, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Old Olive, Rose Red Stampin’ Write Marker
Paper: Old Olive, Rose Red, Tempting Turquiose, Whisper White, Island Oasis Designer Series Paper
Other: Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

That’s it for the Father’s Day cards for this year! Hope you enjoyed them, and that they gave you some ideas for some masculine themed cards.

Both Eve & I decided to use Totally Tools to make Steve his Father’s Day cards this year. He is a wood-working kind of guy, though he hasn’t been able to do much since his knee surgery.  I’ve seen several of these cards with the tools hanging on the cute peg board. I’m not sure who came up with the idea originally, but I love how mine came out! Click on the picture for a better look, so you can see ALL of the holes I pierced to make it look like peg board! I stamped the tools on Naturals White paper so they would be a little thicker, and used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color them in. (Love those!) That great shape at the bottom is from the Matchbox Bigz XL Die. I always try to run a few extra tags when I make a matchbox, and I was excited to find this shape in my scrap bag. I was even more excited when I saw how well the Word Window punch fit in it! This card could easily be used for a birthday or any other occasion by changing the sentiment at the bottom.

Stamps: Totally Tool, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Naturals White, Travel Journal Designer Series Paper
Other: Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Silver Brads, Word Window Punch, Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Big Shot, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter

This is Eve’s fabulous card, made with Totally Tool as well. She used the Stampin’ Write Markers in Bordering Blue and Chocolate Chip to ink up only the images on the stamps (not the words), and placed them around the card. She also used Brilliant Blue ink and paper, since that is Steve’s favorite color. Didn’t she do a great job?

Stamps: Totally Tool, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:
Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip, Brilliant Blue
Paper:
Brilliant Blue, Whisper White

I love stamping with Eve. She has such a great vision!

When I saw this week’s sketch from Stamping 411 I knew it would be perfect for the Father’s Day card I wanted to make from the dogs to my husband. Here’s the sketch:

I used Loads of Love for the first time in forever. My husband drives a blue pick-up truck, and with the dogs in the back it was just perfect! The dog on the left is Biscuit our yellow lab, the one in the middle is Jack our Great Dane (I tried to draw in his mask), and the one on the right is Hershey, a chocolate lab who used to live with us. I also used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons for the first time in a while. I forgot how much I loved using them! I’m so glad that there is a new color kit to update these in July!

Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Stazon Black, Night of Navy
Paper: Kraft, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Travel Journal Designer Series Paper
Other: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

Great sketch this week! I’m so pleased with how this card came out, and my husband loved it too!
