Jack, our Great Dane puppy, is not coming with us for Spring Break. He’s not quite ready for the plane ride (and frankly I’m looking forward to a few nights of uninterrupted sleep). He is staying at our friend Norri’s house, with his sister Cassie and his Uncle Stanley. In appreciation of this, I made Norri a set of Great Dane themed thank you notes. Jack, Cassie, and Stanley are all fawn colored, so I used that color scheme for the cards.

Stamps: Medallion, Vintage Labels, D is for Dog, Kind Thanks
Ink: Creamy Caramel, StazOn Jet Black
Paper: Basic Black, Creamy Caramel, Whisper White
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brayer

It is hard to see, but the paw print in the middle is raised up on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a Brayer to ink up the Medallion stamp. It is so large, and I wanted to make sure that the ink covered it evenly.

This week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge is “Anything but a Card,” so I figured it would be the perfect time to show you how my library has been transformed for spring! I am truly blessed this year to have most amazing library assistant! Karen is not only incredibly competent, but she is artistic as well. She has done an amazing job decorating the library for the different seasons and holidays throughout the year. After the St. Patrick’s Leprechaun hunt was over, she began decorating the library for spring. She used a variety of Stampin’ Up! papers and Big Shot dies to turn the library into a Springtime wonderland! Take a look (supplies listed at the very end). Click on any picture to enlarge it.

This is the display area behind the circulation desk:

These are the two sides of the circulation desk:

There are also a large number of butterflies and birds hanging from the ceiling. (She used paper clips and dental floss to hang them up.)

Supplies: Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper, Tea Party Designer Series Paper, Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, Bird with Leaves & Flowers Bigz Die, Flower Folds Bigz XL Die, On Board Bird Book

The paper was all laminated before being cut. The large butterflies, rabbits, and some of the other items are Karen’s own designs. Thank you, Karen, for your incredible contribution to the library!

As Passover gets closer, I realized that I needed to make some gifts for the people whose houses we are going to for the seders. We are traveling to Rochester, NY for the seders, and looking forward to spending time with family and friends. This is the card set that I made for the wonderful woman who invited us for first seder. It is based on a card shown on Shelli Gardner’s blog. Here is a picture of the whole set, I made two of each kind:

Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Paper: Whisper White, Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad
Other: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Rose Red 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

Each of these uses paper piecing to color the main images. With my amazing Paper Snips it was easy to cut! Here is a closer look at each of the three cards.

The stamp set, the punch, and the Designer Series Paper Pad are available free with a $50 purchase through the end of March. Don’t miss out!

I really like the colors of this week’s ColourQ Challenge, and used them for a quick and easy spring tree.  The colors are:

I decided not to put a sentiment on the card since it could be use for so many occassions. I used the leaf stamp to create the “grass” at the bottom so my tree wasn’t floating in space.

Stamps: Season of Friendship
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Other: Ticket Corner Punch

Sometimes it’s nice to get back to a simple card that is just ink, card stock, and stamps!

I love my Watercolor Wonder Crayons! They coming in all 48 of Stampin’ Up’s basic colors, plus neutrals. They are easy to use in a variety of ways and really add so much to my projects. Stampin’ Up has just put out a great video on four different ways to use these crayons.

If you want to see any of these techniques in person, please let me know. I’d be more than happy to show you!

Eve had a double birthday party today for two boys in her grade. I don’t have a lot of boy stamps or images. They just turned seven, so Build-a-Bear and Sock Monkey were too cute and young for them. While I was searching for ideas, I came across these cards that I made for the Stampin’ Addicts birthday challenge. I decide to change the colors and remake it in a young boy kind of way. I flipped through the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pad for inspiration, and came up with this:

Stamps: Happy Moments
Ink: StazOn Black, Taken with Teal, Old Olive, So Saffron
Paper: Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pad
Other: Always Artichoke 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon

Interestingly, I grabbed my Always Artichoke Ribbon instead of Old Olive, and didn’t notice until the card was done. I think it looks pretty good with it!

A little over a week until Passover starts! That means it’s time for cleaning out the chametz and making Passover cards.  I decided to use this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch to get started on them.

As I’ve mentioned before, my family equates frogs with Passover. This comes from the second plague in the Passover story. And it helps that they are cute and spring-like. Decorating the house with boils just doesn’t have the same type of charm! Here’s what I came up with:

Stamps: Hoppy For You, Calendar Alphabet & Numbers
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Pad, Welcome Neighbor Designer Series Paper Pad
Other: Modern Label Punch, Gold Brads, Paper Snips, Stamp-a-ma-jig

There is a strip of torn bashful blue at the bottom to make the water. The lily pad and cattails are both paper-pieced. If you are interested in other Passover cards, check out my all-time favorite, the Plague Card that I made last year.

I have another workshop coming up at the end of this month, and I was specifically asked to do another easel card for it. These easel cards are super easy to make, but really have such a wow factor to them! I had seen a few other people use the Vintage Label stamp set together with Medallion, and I loved the way that looked! I decided to try to put those together on an easel card, and this is what I came up with it:

Stamps: Medallion, Vintage Labels
Ink: Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence, Whisper White, Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper
Other: Scallop Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Playground buttons (Old Olive)
