When my friend Stephanie asked if I could make a birthday card for her son, I said sure. Then she said she wanted it with a MotoCross theme, because he races. Well, I’m always up for a challenge. Stephanie had a great idea of  making the card like the black and white checkered flag. I wove one inch wide strips of Basic Black and Whisper White card stock together to make the checkerboard pattern. She also requested that it fit in a #10 envelope so she could put in the tickets that are his birthday present, so the finished card is 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2.

I do take custom orders for cards, or I can teach you how to make your own! You can also visit my Etsy shop to buy some ready-made cards.

I love this Bella Rose Designer Series Paper! You can use it for so many different types of projects! It has the roses for a soft feminine touch, and also some great masculine prints. I used it today to make this Father’s Day card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #85. Here’s the sketch:

Stampin’ Addicts has a new color challenge every Friday. This week’s colors were Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, and Baja Breeze. Tricky, tricky colors! I don’t really gravitate towards these two plums. While they are lovely, I never really think about them. That’s the great thing about color challenges, they help you step away from your usual choices. After mulling over these colors for a long time, I came up with this card. I think it came out super cute! These are fantastic colors together!

Today is my mom’s birthday, so in a big birthday shout-out to her, I am posting the card I made for her. Since her favorite color is yellow, I tweaked the Mother’s Day rose cards, and made her a birthday card with yellow roses. If you want to see where I got my creative genes from, visit her needlepoint design web site. Happy Birthday, Mom! Hope you are having a great day!
