Rubber Stamping & Card Making with Yapha

For today’s Mojo Monday sketch, I started by looking at my Designer Series paper. I came across the great gingham in the Bella Rose pack, which happened to be next to the Chocolate Chip polka dot piece. This reminded me of a super cute card I had seen made with these and the bear from Under the Stars. Since I hadn’t used that bear in quite a while, I decided to ink him up! Here is today’s sketch:

I love this new Golden Oldies stamp set! The sayings just crack me up! I like this one the best I think, probably because I can relate to it so well. If you can’t quite make out the words, it says, “My mind not only wanders — sometimes it leaves completely.” I used the same layout as on the last card I made with Golden Oldies. I changed the designer paper to the Delicate Dots Sale-a-Bration paper, and I made ribbon photo corners instead of brads. Golden Oldies is available to buy starting April 1st, but remember, March 31st is the last day to get the Delicate Dots and the ribbon bundle from Sale-a-Bration!

Here is another card I made with the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die. (Please note, this is not a true die, because it does not actually cut the paper, but is a folder used to emboss the image.) This folder is a must have. It is so easy to make simple and elegant cards with it! This card took literally less than 10 minutes to put together! Love it! You may notice that the colors are the same as the ones from the Cheep Talk card last week. I used the same colors from the Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series Paper. I love this paper pack. The colors are amazing!

I’ve been going through withdrawl, since I wasn’t able to play along with Kristina Werner’s Color Challenge last week while we were out of town. I was waiting for it today, hoping it would be posted early this morning before we left to drive down to my parents’ house for the weekend. Alas, it was not to be. So I brought a bunch of Stamping stuff and hoped that I had it covered — after all, I did bring all 48 colors in both Stampin’ Write Markers and the Watercolor Wonder Crayons, as well as my entire scrap bag. This afternoon the new colors were posted.

At first I was really disappointed.  I had brought with some of the in-colors ink pads, but not Tangerine Tango. I could use Pumpkin Pie, but it just wouldn’t be the same. So I thought and I thought, and I found some Tangerine Tango paper in my scrap bag. A pretty big piece. And I thought, what a great time to use my new Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die! And I tried a new technique as well, inking up the raised portion of the folder before inserting the paper. (This is really an embossing folder, not a die that cuts.) I also used two products from the upcoming mini catalg on this card — the Oval All stamp set and the coordinating scalloped oval punch. I’m really pleased with how it came out!

Stampin’ Up’s next mini catalog, the Occasions Mini catalog, is available to purchase from one week from today, on April 1. While I’m sure that we’ll all be very sad that Sale-a-Bration is over, there are some amazing new items in the mini catalog! (If you have purchased Stampin’ Up items from me before, check your mail for the mini catalog, it should be arriving this week!) One of the great new products in the mini is another exclusive die for the Big Shot, the Matchbox Die. It is a Bigz XL Die, so you need the extended cutting pads for it. It also has three super cute tags that can be cut out using the die. One of them is on today’s project. There are two stamps in the catalog that coordinate with the tags as well. I just love how everything matches with Stampin’ Up! Here is the first matchbox that I made:

I used the Delicate Dots Sale-a-Bration paper and the So Saffron Sale-a-Bration ribbon to finish it off. (Only a few days left to get these!) What can fit inside? A whole bunch of things! Four Hershey nuggets fit perfectly. You could also put in a pair of earrings or a necklace, a sweet note, or if you are Eve, a whole bunch of Polly Pocket clothes! I used an idea I saw from Stampin’ Up and put in three lip balms, also wrapped in the same Delicate Dots paper.

Super cute, huh? I love how this turned out! I can’t wait to make more!

Only One Week Left of Sale-a-Bration!
Whoo-hoo! My favorite time of year! It’s Sale-a-Bration time! Now through March 31, Stampin’ Up is giving away free stamps! This year there are four stamp sets to choose from, or a ribbon bundle, or a pack of gorgeous paper! And there is no limit on how many you can earn!  I love this! Here are the details:

Eve and I spent a long time trying to figure out what to do for her birthday this year. I didn’t want to do the huge party thing like we had for the past two years. So we tossed around a few ideas (okay, a ton of ideas) and finally settled on a movie night. She invited a couple friends for pizza, popcorn, birthday cake and a  movie. Here’s the invitation that we came up with to go along with the theme:

I love using the spiral punch to make filmstrip-style cards. And it was just so perfect for a movie night!

What a feeling of accomplishment, I finished my swap cards for the new Occasions mini catalog! Demonstrators often participate in swaps to be able to show off samples of cards with sets they don’t have. For this swap, each of us picked one set from the upcoming mini catalog to make cards with. I used the new Golden Oldies set. I thought this saying went just perfectly with the Jackpot Designer Series Paper. My favorite stamp of the set, though, is the one of an older woman, sitting in a chair, saying “My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.” Look for a card with that soon!
