Archive for January, 2009

A few days ago I showed you the Thank You notes that I made for my colleague, Sean. I was really pleased with the way the turned out and wanted to make some for myself, but with a more feminine touch. So I switched the Designer Series Paper to Georgia Peach and used that color scheme instead. Have I mentioned that I love this new Elegant Thank You stamp?

The Georgia Peach paper is another one that will not be available after January 18, so if you love it, be sure to order some soon!

Today is my brother’s birthday, so I thought I’d give a big shout out happy birthday to him! Below is the card I made for him. He’s become quite the poker player, so when I saw this stamp set and designer series paper in the new catalog sneak peek, I knew I just had to get it! There is a wheel that matches as well, and from what I understand, another set that looks like actually cards in the new catalog as well. I can’t wait!

Happy Birthday Joey! Hope you have a good one!

I missed being able to do Kristina Werner’s Color Inspiration last week when I was out of town. It was really beautiful colors too! But yay, it’s that time of week again, so here is my entry for Color Inspiration #37.

These are great colors as well, and immediately made me think of the Season of Friendship stamp set. The word on the street (or rather at the Stampin’ Up leadership conference) is that this versatile set is NOT in the new catalog coming out January 19. This means that you will not be able to buy this set after January 18. (It may or may not show up in the next Fall-Winter catalog, but we won’t know that until July.) I wanted something fun and spring-y, after all of this snow and ice.

‘Tis the season for… thank you notes! Yep, after all of those holiday gifts, it is time to write thank you notes. One of the new stamps that will be coming out in the Spring-Summer catalog later this month is Elegant Thank You. It is a single stamp, not a set, and it fits so perfectly into the scalloped square punch that it really does make an easy, elegent thank you!

This is a card that I made for my co-librarian, Sean. In appreciation of all he has done (including picking up the pieces when the library flooded on Christmas Day), I made him a set of thank you notes. I wanted something masculine looking, so I turned to my Muirfield paper. I was inspired by this card by Shannon.

Muirfield is one of the paper packs that is retiring on January 18, so if you like it, get it soon!

Stampin’ Up just announced an inventory blowout sale in addition to the list of accessories that will not be available once the new catalog starts on January 19. The inventory blowout sale includes some of the retiring accessories, some items that will be in the next catalog, and some previously retired items as well! There is great stuff!

All of these items are only while supplies last. If any of the past sales are good indicators, they will go quickly! For fast ordering, use my website at http://yapha.stampinup.net or email me!

With the ice storm here, we never had the last six days of school before the holidays. (It would have been really fun except for the part where we had no power for 12 days.) Because of that, Eve was not able to give her teachers their holiday gifts. I originally intended to give them with Christmas cards, but the time has clearly passed for that! So I made up some Happy New Year to give with the gifts.

I knew that I wanted to use the champagne glasses from “Cheers to You” and the Top Note Die. I only have the silver elastic cord, not the gold, so I figured I would emboss “Happy New Year” in silver on black. But I was unsure about what color to use as a background. After much deliberation, I decided to make a card out of just the Top Note!

Paper: Basic Black, Brished Silver, Whisper White
Ink: Versamark, StazOn Black
Accessories: Silver Embossing Powder, Silver Elastic Cord, Apricot Appeal Stampin’ Write Marker, Top Note Bigz Die

I folded the paper for the Top Note before running it through the Big Shot, making sure that the fold was inside the lines of the die.

I lined the inside of the card with Apricot Appeal paper to make a place to write. I liked the way the Apricot Appeal looked against the Basic Black, so I made another version of the card, in standard size, with an Apricot Appeal base.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2009. May it be all that you wish!
